Since nails are an outgrowth of protein, eat foods rich in protein, like eggs, fish, and red meat. Brittle nails can mean that your body isn't getting the right amount of nutrients, so you can also take a daily multi-vitamin.
You can also add a coat of clear top coat to clean nails, which will help by adding a layer of strength. If you use a clear top coat, re-apply once a week. After 2 weeks, remove the old nailpolish and start with a new coat.
Another option is to go to a nail salon and ask for just the gel they use on fake nails to be applied to your real nails...this gel is very strong and will help prevent chipping and breakage. What are some ways to make my nails stronger?
DONT use sally hansen colored polishes! they peel off and take a layer of your nail with them. my nails are still in repair from that! try this http://www.sallyhansen.com/product.cfm?product=311. and a strengthening polish but nothing else for about two weeks and they'll be SOOOO much stronger and longer! my nails are growing at twice their normal pace.
Maybe you should having a base coat of nail polish, or using nail hardening polish.
Also, you may want to try putting a dab of nail polish under your nails. If the problem persists, talk to your doctor or a parent.
Good luck! Hope that helps!
