What is the best way to take off acrylic nails?

When I say acrylic, I mean the french nail type that you get done at the salon. Does anyone know a good way to take them off that doesn't hurt as much as ripping them off painfully? What is the best way to take off acrylic nails?
acetone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!What is the best way to take off acrylic nails?
Use pure acetone. Never force them off - ever! Also keep in mind that many salons will apply a UV top coat to give your nails a long lasing shine. If they applied this on your nails you will have to remove the layer of cured gel before soaking your nails. Real UV gels are impervious to solvents (acetone is a solvent). Just take a 150 or 180 grit nail file and file the entire surface of the nail being careful to not remove too much product. Gel files very easily and it should come off with minimal effort. Even if they don't have a UV topcoat, it will speed the process to remove the bulk of acrylic with a file prior to soaking your nails. Also - as one other answerer said, filing them will rough up the surface which will also help to shorten the removal time.
Hi there,

Don't use water like the others have advised. What you will need: old bowl filled with acetone (nail polish remover), and old emery board, and an old towel or paper towel. Roughen up your nails with the file, soak for 5 minutes in remover, wipe with towel. Repeat these steps until all the product is gone. Wash hands and apply cuticle oil (or vegetable oil!!) and hand cream!
There's those things you can buy at like the drug store... I'm not sure what they're called, but basically they're a small round container. Inside it's lined with bristles, and it'll filled with a pink powerful nail polish remover. You just put your finger in it and rub it against the bristles, and it comes off pretty easy.

Good luck! :)
Listen to me. . . buy the (professional strength) acetone nail polish remover from a beauty supply store, like Sally's. Soak your nails as the directions say. Good Luck!
Soak them in pure acitone nail polish remover. It will take awhile, but you can peel off layers as they soak.
Soak them in hot water to get the glue to loosen and then slowly peel them off in the water. It shouldnt hurt at all:]
soak your hands in HOT water,

then eventually theyll come off.

works for me.

  • How do you get those little designs on your nails?

My friend has an older sister who is in medical school. When she comes back, her sister paints my friend's nails. How do they get those pretty little designs (hearts, flowers, etc.) on to your nails? Where can you get whatever they use?How do you get those little designs on your nails?
    Hi,

im sure you can buy nail design tools in Target or Wal*Mart...

and if you simply cannot go out and buy those nail kits..you can make a flower using the things you have at home:

Easy Flower (looks good with french tip)

    Get:

    several unwanted dull pointed pencils

    desired nail polishes(different colors)

    a base coat polish

    Then follow these steps:

    1. apply your base coat (i would suggest clear or a light shade) let dry

    2. using a dull pencil's tip, dip it in the nail polish and dot the tip of the pencil onto your nail. (this will be the flowers middle. You now should have one dot on the nail) let it dry

    3. Now using a different dull pencil's tip, again dip it in a different nail polish (like red or whatever you want your flower's petals to be) using the dipped tip of the pencil, dot around the flowers middle. You should basically have 5 to 6 dots around the dot from step 2. hopefully it will look like a flower to you

    4. Now that you have the basic flower...you can customize it if you want. Usually I like to add sparkles to it using my Sally Hansen Sparkly Nail Polish. You can also add leaves or a vine..whatever you want. you can leave it plain if you want

    5. Now check all of your nails to see if they look nice. do touch-ups if neccessary.

    6. If your nails are now done, apply 1-2 coats of clear nail polish to seal and protect

    ALL DONE!!!

hope this works for you!!! it just takes time and patience AND practice to make a pretty flower on your nails!!! Sorry but I only know how to make flowers..I would love to learn how to make hearts and zebra print...

GOOD LUCK!!! =DHow do you get those little designs on your nails?
You can get them done at a nail salon.

Where is a good quality place to get acrylic nails done in perth?

I have just moved to Perth and want to get my nails done for the first time in a few years. I have heard good and bad things about Fantasy Nails on Beaufort St and also good things about Unique nails in Subiaco but wanted to hear from anyone who has a place to recommend? I want them to be quite thin and don't mind paying a bit more for good quality! Thanks in advance!Where is a good quality place to get acrylic nails done in perth?
Here is a link that may be of some help to you in finding a top notch salon in your area. This is a salon locator, and it is provided by a company called CND (Creative Nail Design). This company has been providing the nail industry with top quality profesional nail products since the late 1970's. It also provides high quality training for nail technicians. In fact, all of the techs/salons listed on the salon locator page have been company trained, and certified prior to their placement on this list.

I looked up Australia in the locator. It lists the names, and the contact information of two CND distributors, and it advises people to contact one of them. They will be able to supply you with the names, and contact info for any good techs/salons in your area.

By the way, I have no association with this company, nor do I profit in any way by providing the link, or from your use of it - if you choose to do so. I am providing it strictly for informational purposes. Thus, I am NOT a spammer.

What is the proper way to trim down acrylic nails?

I have had acrylic nails for several years and I routinely visit the nail salon every three weeks. The problem is that I am taking the CA Bar Exam next week and my nails are feeling a little to long to allow me to type as fast as possible during the exam. I have an appointment at the salon the day after the exam, but I need to trim them down a bit for the exam itself, and I wont have time to get into the salon.

It really doesn't matter if they are pretty, but I would prefer it if they didn't crack or snag on things. Would normal clippers and a file work? Or, I was also noticing that my clippers for my dog's nails are similar to the clippers the salon uses, would those work just to trim them down a bit?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)What is the proper way to trim down acrylic nails?
I'm assuming you aren't going to grt them filled before the exam.Whatever you do don't use nailclippers. It will crack the acrylic. All you need to do is get a file and buffer and just file the acrylic down then make sure you buff the endsWhat is the proper way to trim down acrylic nails?
Use a fingernail file, that's what I always use, regular clippers may crack them and I don't know if I'd use the dog clippers.
Please do yourself a favor! I took the bar exam myself; you will be stressed out enough!! Take 30 minutes, walk into a nail salon , have them cut and filed!!! You don't know me, but you will thank me!
Maybe you could just file them?
Yes, use your dog's, that one is similar and the nails won't crack like using the normal clipper. Then, file them, after that buff them and shine. Wear a light color enamel.
    go to the nail salon
DO NOT try to file them yourself. You can damage them or even damage your nail.

go back to the nail salon and have them trim it down for you. That is the best and pretty much only way
what i always do is just get a good file and cozy on the couch with your favorite show and file away, dont clip them with the wrong clippers bc it will crack the acrylic all the way down and you will be left with a horrible looking nail! but i think the dog clippers might work but just be SUPER CAUTIOUS! please, i hate it when ppl have raggidy looking nails. lol good luck
ACRYLIC NAILS CANNOT B TRIMMED TRUST ME DONT TRY IT! U HAVE TO GO TO THE PLACE WHERE U NORMALLY GET THEM DONE AND HAVE THEM TRIM OR REMOVE IT FOR U
use clippers to cut them down t natural length!

How long do nails have to be to get acrylic?

I bite mine, I don't wanna anymore. So, I would like to get acrylic. How long do nails have to be?How long do nails have to be to get acrylic?
They can be as short as you make them. Thats why people get them to get longer nails. I always bite mine too and I get them sometimes. They sometimes cut them anyway if they are too longHow long do nails have to be to get acrylic?
You can get them even if they are short and you bite them. often it is a good idea to get acrylic to help kick the habit. The process includes the technicians putting tips on your nails made of plastic. and then there is acrylic placed on top of the tip and your nail. This gives the illusion of longer nails.you can get them as long or as short as you want.

i recommende pink and white because it won't chip as often as a regular manicure or nail polish will. And they are thick and last against bumps and chews
it doesnt matter how long they arre at all.

    you can get them

    itll be finee
it doesnt matter how long they are. they can be short. the nail person is going to clip your nails anyways.
doesnt matter i bite mine too and i get mine done
not long at all. they can put tips on first, then the acrylic
above ur ski point on ur fingers

Why are my nails tender after putting acrylic on them?

Got my nails done yesterday, it's been a while. I noticed my fingertips are more tender. Why does this happen, and am I the only one?Why are my nails tender after putting acrylic on them?
I agree with Ellie. I just want to add that there should never be any pain or tenderness felt either during or after the application of nail enhancements. The most common reason for this is that the tech filed down your natural nail using a drill. A drill should never be used on your natural nail. Only a gentle hand filing is needed to remove the shine off of the surface of your nail.

The other reason, though less likely, is that you may have an allergic reaction to the products used in acrylic applications, such as the primer, or the monomer (the liquid). Why are my nails tender after putting acrylic on them?
I actually went to beauty school, here is the best reason I can think of,

If they used the drill they may have drilled your natural nail down too far and you could have lost a layer or two of your natural nail. When I do acrylic nails I do it all by hand and I never use a drill, drills are not needed when doing acrylic nails. A lot of people become drill happy and your nails really do not need to be drilled too much. I know that I have gone somewhere before to get my nails done and they drilled my natural nail down so far that my nails were throbbing and burning after they put the acrylic on, this should never happen. the only reason they are supposed to drill is to shape, clean, and groom your nail. If it hurts at anytime while drilling they are not doing it right. This could cause your fingers to be tender after having acrylic nails put on. My advice for you is to watch where you get your nails done because it sounds like they filed your nails down too far. I hope this helped you
The tech may have overfiled your natural nails prepping them for the acrylics, or, more likely, overfiled the acrylics after they had been applied. This end up causing your nail beds to feel tender for a few days.
acrylic proably took of the first layer of skin and nail
The chemicals and all the things that happen when you get them put on!
    no it happens to me....i dont really know why, but i think its cause your nails cant really ';breath';
Did your nail person use the drill to smooth out the acrylics? Are the nail a lot longer than the natural nail?

the drill will make them tender and the length will also make them sore...You are used to your nail being shorter so the way you are now using your fingers the tips are pulling on your natural nail bed..Does that make sense it's hard to explain in a few sentences. It's a normal reaction..they will feel better in a few days
Sounds like the manicurist was ';heavy handed'; ... no worries, you'll be fine.

How can I drive in or remove nails that were not completely drive in by my nail gun from house siding?

I am replacing siding on my house. About every tenth nail my nail gun doesn't drive in all the way (leaving about 1/2 to 3/4 showing). If I try and pull the nail out, the head pulls off. If I drive to drive it in furhter with a hammer, the nail bends. Help. How can I drive in or remove nails that were not completely drive in by my nail gun from house siding?
Use a pair of channel locks to grip the nail shaft and pull it out with that. Also, I'm sure you are aware that the nails on siding are not supposed o hammered it fully tight. You need to allow a little slop to provide for the expansion and contraction of the siding. How can I drive in or remove nails that were not completely drive in by my nail gun from house siding?
Try using nail punches. They come in different sizes go to your nearest hardware store there not that expensive. It's better to drive them in than taking them out then you'll have to use caulking for the holes.
I find driving the nail ';home'; easiest with a 7/16ths bolt and a framing hammer. If you would like to remove the nail, hardware stores carry a nail pulling tool to fit your need. Ask the attendant. Vice gripes are a terrible idea.
Your nailer needs to be looked at before you go farther. but your question is simple. get a scrap of siding and place it near the nail that needs to be removed and grasp it with a set of channel locks .make sure the scrap of siding is under your channel locks so as not to damage your siding when you pull out the misfired nail.
Yep, that's the way with gun nails. It's the glue on the nails that causes it. The glue gets hot when the nail goes in and sets when cooled.

More than difficult to drive in and or remove if allowed to sit. I would suggest using WD-40 on the nails while in the gun. Allows some leeway. When nailing guns were first interduced, we used to make a mixture of paint thinner and bees wax to lubricate the nails. Smile.

There is a fencing pliers available in some areas which are designed to pull large fencing staples. These grip the nail shaft instead of the head. Have found then to work on nails I couldn't pull any other way. Check with a hardware store or a farm supply store.

    Good luck.

Also, to prevent this from occuring, check your air pressure, your compressor may not hold enough pressure with ten nails. Try five or six nails and let it recover.

    Hisemiester
Use a nail punch to drive the nails, Or a12d nail will work too.Try to adjust the pressure on the nail gun. If you do pull the nails, worm them out and make sure you have a thin piece of wood to put against your siding so you dont ruin the surface. I use a pair of pliers, or the exhumer a nail puller made by Dead On, it's just a great tool.

White spots on your fingernails usually occur because of some kind of trauma (you hit your fingernail on something). It can also be a sign of a zinc deficiency, but this is less common than just hitting your finger.
What Your Nails Are Telling You About Your Health

A perfectly manicured hand is one where the nails are strong and smooth, with no discoloration, jagged cuticles or other signs of abuse. But what about nails that are less than perfect? Since many health problems have an impact on the nails, it’s worth listening to what your hands have to say.

    The pits

When the normally smooth surface of the fingernail has several small dents or pits in it, that can be a signal that something is going on beneath the nail. Most often, the cause of those dents is psoriasis. The inflammatory skin condition—it shows up as red, scaly patches on the skin—can also affect the skin cells in the nails. Instead of growing out smoothly, the surface of the nail takes on a dented appearance. Once the psoriasis is treated and under control, nails will slowly return to normal. (Since nails only grow about a millimeter per week, it will take a few months for the old, pitted nail to fully grow out and be replaced with a healthy one.) Search for images of pitted nails.

    Spoon-shaped

A healthy nail has a specific shape—slightly raised in the middle, then curving down a bit at the tip. So when you see a nail with the exact opposite configuration, that should be a clue that all is not right. “It’s called a spoon-shaped nail, and it’s a symptom of iron deficiency anemia,” says Dr. D’Anne Kleinsmith, a spokesperson for the American Dermatological Society. As with many health problems, it can take months of iron deficiency before the problem shows up in the nails. And when the anemia is corrected, it will take awhile for normal-shaped nails to re-grow. Search for images of spoon-shaped nails.

    Peeling

The nail plate is made up of several layers of keratin (a protein). Ideally, those layers are sealed together to form a unified, strong nail. But when nails aren’t protected—your hands are in water a lot, or exposed to cold, dry air—those layers tend to delaminate. The result is nails that are likely to peel. Besides being an indication that you need to take better care of your nails—polish can help seal the layers and moisturizing them several times a day will keep the layers supple—peeling nails can mean a diet that’s lacking in linoleic acid. The easiest way to up your intake is to increase your use of vegetable oils (add some to your salad dressing or drizzle some on steamed veggies).

    Brittleness

By some estimates, about 20 percent of women suffer from a condition called “brittle nail syndrome.” While it may sound like just a fancy name for nails that break easily, the causes go deeper than that. Brittle nails are ones that can’t hold on to moisture, so the layers of the nail plate dry out and crack. Medically speaking, it’s possible for an under-active thyroid to cause both dry skin and brittle nails. Nutritionally, a diet low in iron can cause nails to become thin, brittle and easily broken (eating more green, leafy vegetables, red meat and eggs will help boost your iron intake). Biotin supplements (a B-complex vitamin) have also been shown to improve the condition of brittle nails. And your habits play a role as well. The main culprit: excessive exposure to water. Constantly wetting and drying your hands (and nails) can make brittleness worse.

    Looking yellow

A healthy nail (with healthy skin beneath its bed) has a pretty, pinkish hue. When it doesn’t, that may be a reason to worry. “When all of the nails turn yellow it can be a sign of lung disease or diabetes,” says Dr. Arielle Kauvar, a New York City dermatologist. “Yellow spots on the nails can be an indicator of fungus or psoriasis.” Since any of these conditions warrants treatment by a doctor, it’s worth seeing a dermatologist if yellow nails persist. Women who frequently wear very dark nail polish for long periods of time (especially without using a protective basecoat underneath it) may also notice a slight yellowing of their nails, but it’s no reason to panic. The nails are merely stained from the polish and will return to their normal shade if they are left unpolished for a while.

    White spots

Tiny white splotches dotting otherwise healthy-looking pink nails are not normally a sign of anything serious. Most often, those spots are the manifestation of some type of trauma to the nail. If you injure the nail matrix—the area at the base of the nail where new nail cells are created—you’ll see the results of that trauma show up as white spots as the nails grow out. But since it takes several weeks for those new nail cells to grow out to a place on the nail plate where the injury is visible, chances are that by time you notice a white spot, you may have forgotten the nail-slamming incident that caused it. But if you’re certain you didn’t injure your nails and you are noticing recurring white spots, there are several other causes—including the skin conditions psoriasis and eczema, or a diet that’s deficient in the mineral zinc (found in whole grains, poultry and seafood).

    Turning colors

The most common cause of fingernails that suddenly take on an unhealthy tinge is some type of fungal infection. Both yeast infections and bacterial infections can easily be picked up at an unsanitary nail salon—usually caused by the use of unsterilized tools. “A yeast infection can cause the nail to separate from the underlying skin,” says Kleinsmith. “The nail can start lifting up and a crumbly, white fungus can appear underneath it.” A bacterial infection can cause the affected nail to turn slightly green. And getting too vigorous with the cuticle pusher or nippers can lead to either a yeast or bacterial infection in the cuticle surrounding the nail. “If you notice sudden swelling or pain in the cuticles a day or two after a manicure, see a doctor to get on antibiotics,” she recommends.

    The half moon

Officially called the lunula, that little crescent at the base of the nail is where the nail matrix (the birthplace of new nail cells) lies. Normally the lunula is most prominent on the thumbs, and it gets progressively less visible on each finger as you move from thumb over to pinky. “It’s a normal variation to see more of it on some fingers than on others,” says Kleinsmith. “And whether it’s visible or not isn’t indicative of health.” A fun nail fact: the shape of the lunula determines the natural shape of the nail edge.

    Ridges

Potato chips aren’t the only things that can have ridges. Nails that have even, vertical ridges are totally normal—a sign not of any health problems, but of age (they tend to become more accentuated as you get older). But a condition called Beau’s lines is a sign of a more systemic health issue. “If a person has been very sick or gone through a lot of stress, the nail may stop growing,” Kleinsmith explains. “When it starts growing again, an indentation occurs at that spot on the nail.” As the nail grows out over the next several months, these indentations (probably in about the same place on each nail) will become visible. A single deep ridge in just one nail may indicate that there’s a small wart or cyst at the base of the nail that is putting pressure on the nail matrix and affecting the way the new nails grow.
i believe the white crescents that you're speaking of near the skin of the finger are called the luna of the nail. those are normal. the white specks have to do with calcium. i wouldn't think it would be a sign of anything bad. i get them sometimes.
The white specks (depending on what kind your talking about could only be calcium deposit

The crescent is called the Lunula. It kind of a window to their health..

The lunula and the nail itself are good places to find warning signs of certain diseases such as liver disease, kidney disease, heart problems, and lung diseases.[ Any color differences or unusual lines may indicate some type of disease or insufficiency. However, vertical lines on one's fingernails are normal as one ages.

Lunular anomalies include changes in form, structure or color. Lunular dysmorphologic features (that is, anomalies in form) can be characterized by macrolunula, microlunula or anolunula, and nonconvex lunula. Lunular dyschromias (color anomalies) can be confluent or spotted or can be characterized by longitudinal colored bands that traverse the lunula. Alterations in the morphologic features or color (or both) of the lunula can be an indication of either a cutaneous or a systemic disorder
White spots on your nails are usually a sign of a calcium deficiency, so you may want eating more dairy or get calcium fortified food. But a lot of the time it is just from being too rough on your nails and banging them against something.
    The crescent is normal.

White specks on a nail means you hurt the nail (like jammed your finger) when it was growing at that point.

They have to grow out, so the spot can be there for a long time.

How do I get rid of skin around my nails?

I have bits of loose skin on the skin around some of my nails (not cuticles), some of it's quite dry and I don't know what to do to get rid of it, because it makes my fingers look awful.

I do bite my nails occasionally when I'm nervous (although I am trying to stop now), so could this have anything to do with it?

Any ideas on how to make my fingers look better?

Thank you!How do I get rid of skin around my nails?
I use to get those....aside from going for a manicure....try this...

Go get one of those buffer pads from the drug store. Not a nail file...though you will need tht too...get both! Get a buffer...and a nail file! LOL So then....go home and soak your hands in warm water for about 3 minutes...dry them...then use the buffer on the tops of your nails and down the sides of your fingers (but make sure u trimmed any loose skin...it wil hurt if it gets ripped more) use the buffer as an exfoliant on the sides of your finger where its dry and rippd up. Then...wen its all buffed...use the nail file to make all the nails even. Then go wash your hands. Dry them...and apply lotion. I usually try and rub it in all over my hands...but focus on your cuticles! Wash your hands an additional time if you feel sticky from the lotion...ta da! yer done!

Mine are the same. You can use cuticle cream. They sale it anywhere, pretty much. You just apply it and rub it in and let it sit. Then wipe it off. It's really oily, which helps with the loose bits of skin. Your skin is just too dry. :)
Soak them in warm water, and use a cuticle skin remover., also you can use any nail cream. Good Luck.

Dip your fingers in the jalapino jar and let air dry... That should do it!
My sister got her son to stop sucking his thumb by putting pepper liquid on it. Same principle for nail biting. There are a number of brands on the market; I know Thum is the one for children.
Put fake nails on. You can get acrylic nails at a salon or do it at home. Acrylic is tougher to chew on and makes you more conscious that you biting your nails.
Wow I am really trying to think of how I stopped doing this. I dont like getting my nails done but I had them done a couple of times and I think that was it. The fake nails are much harder to chew!
put your nails in something you hate..maybe dip them in a garlic oil if you hate the taste of garlic or the smell. therefore when you go to bite them you will taste the garlic and smell it..and you'll be grossed out..i guess do it as long as it takes to stop biting them.
go to target and look in the nail polish isle they have stuff you can put on your nails thats supposed to keep ppl from biting them
It took a long time, and a lot of prodding from my then-girlfriend to get me to stop. We worked out a system so that, whenever I would start to bite my fingernails, she would bodily pull my finger out of my mouth and scold me. It took me a few months, but we did it together.
There are certain nail polishes you can buy at like walmart or wherever...or you could get your nails done and let them grow underneath...that works as well. Good luck!

What is the best Natural way to keep your nails from breaking and peeling?

I dont use nail polish but I like to keep my nails well maintained and filed. They grow very fast and long but after a while they tend to crack on the edges and peel up though. Can you suggest something that is NATURAL that can help? Meaning NO chemicals or polishes. What is the best Natural way to keep your nails from breaking and peeling?
Do not use a nail clipper. Only use a nail file to shape and shorten them. Protect your nails with thicker moisturizers to protect them from exposure to water which dries them out %26amp; makes them brittle.

Try Revlon's disposable files made for weak nails. File in one direction only. Start on one side and file towards the middle, then go to the other side and file towards the middle of your nail. Smooth the nail into a squoval that mirrors you cuticle or the shape of the white part of your nail bed. Avoid filing down the sides of the nail.

Finish the edges of the nail with a hindo stone, a smooth ceramic/stone nail file or the finest grit nail file you can find. You want to make the edges really smooth.

Also, avoid using metal nail files. I recommend using disposable nail files and changing them frequently. The fresher the grit, the less the drag which leads to tearing and peeling.

I also use a cuticle balm or nail oil to moisturize my nails and protect them from water since I wash my hands frequently. (ex. Solar Oil, OPI Avoplex)

Vit E oil, jojoba oil, Aquaphor Healing Ointment, Vaseline or plain Chapstick will work too. What is the best Natural way to keep your nails from breaking and peeling?
Drink KNOX Gelatin it strengthens them
I swear to you that when I do absolutely nothing to mine, that is when they grow and look their best. If I file around on them and put a clear coat or something like that on them, they break and split everytime.
Have more calcium, it helps your nails become stronger. You can either drink lots of milk, or you can take daily calcium vitamins.

What's the easiest way to trim a rabbits nails?

I need to trim my rabbits nails and I am tired of dragging him to the vet everyvtime. I know that some people say you turn them over on their backs but I have never tried this. I know to look for the quick on the nails so you do not cut them because I have trimmed my dogs nails before. Any advice would be appreciated. What's the easiest way to trim a rabbits nails?
I used to show and raise rabbits and I just set them on my lap. I picked the paws up by putting one finger in the middle of their paw. This spread the claws. I would then used my other fingers to part any fur to get a good view of the nail. You'll soon find the best way to trim. Try different positions before cutting. Try putting your arm under the rabbit for opposite sides (I'm right handed so I had to do this to cut the nails on the right side). Hope this helps. What's the easiest way to trim a rabbits nails?
You should let them free in your garden if your garden has concrete. The concrete will wear the nails down and viola! No need for trimming!

one hour max.How long does it normally take to have acrilic nails put on in a salon?
It depends what youre having done, and what state your own hands are in but generally an hour to an hour and a half. If you have white tips glued on it could be 45 minutes but if your nails are severely bitten, discoloured etc then expect longer. If the tech is doing pink and white sculpts its obviously going to take longer than pink straight over white glue on tips etc. I'd prefer a tech that takes a little longer and does the job properly than a chop shop get you in and out in as little as time as possible. You do get what you pay for in the nail industry.......choose wisely.

Run from any salon that uses the electric file (drill like device) to sand away at your own nail, its a chop shop and chop shops tend to use MMA...a banned and dangerous product

    # Gather your supplies - trimmers, towel, cotton swabs and something to treat the nails if accidentally cut too short.

    # Get your helper to hold the rabbit gently but firmly. Wrapping the bunny in a towel will help keep them calm and restrained.

    # Trim only the tip of the nail. It is far better to trim just a bit frequently than try to trim off a lot once the nails get too long. See the link to nail trim information below for help on where to cut.

    # Place the clippers on the nail where the cut is to be made. If you can, apply gentle pressure and if the rabbit flinches move a bit toward the tip of the nail. Make the cut in a firm, swift motion to avoid crushing the nail.

    # If a nail is accidentally cut too short, wipe away blood with a cotton swab and quickly place a pinch of a product such as Kwik Stop (or cornstarch or flour) on the end of the nail and pack it gently.

    # Repeat for all the nails. Take a break between feet if your rabbit is struggling or the procedure is taking a while. This is especially important if you are using a towel for restraint to prevent overheating.

    # Quickly recheck all the nails to make sure they are not bleeding before leaving the rabbit alone.

    Tips:

    1. Always restrain the rabbit correctly, supporting and restraining the hind end well. If the rabbit kicks strongly it can cause itself serious injury.

    2. Cutting a nail too short is scary but it is common so do not feel bad if it happens and don't panic. Make sure the bleeding stops before leaving the rabbit unattended, though.

    3. If you are worried, consult a vet or groomer for a demonstration of how to do nail trims. Practice will make it much easier.

    What You Need:

    * Clippers

    * Towel

    * Cotton Swabs

    * Kwik Stop or cornstarch

What are those peices of skin below your finger nails that split apart from your fingers and look stringy?

Usually when my hands are dry I get them, and have to pull them off, but sometimes they start to bleed and im worried they might get infected. I know they are not hangnails because I looked up hangnails and those are usually beside the nail. It is like a hangnail but below the nail.

thanks! What are those peices of skin below your finger nails that split apart from your fingers and look stringy?
actually, they are hangnails. you usually get these when your skin isn't hydrated enough. instead of pulling them, use nail clippers or nail scissors to cut them as close to the base as possible. pulling them breaks the skin which is both painful and allows for possible infections. when cutting, you may break the skin a small amount, but it shouldn't be anything to worry about. just wash your hands and keep the area clean, also use a hand cream instead of lotion to moisturize.

What product is used in beauty salons to make nails extremely shinny?

Hello, i'm talking about a professional product used, I've heard they mix it up with the nail polish and it makes the nail EXTREMELY glossy. What product is used in beauty salons to make nails extremely shinny?
sally hansen's invisible polish. Just get any invisible shade that's from Sally Hansen.

But since I live in Richmond (azns unite!!), theres a mall called Aberdeen that has a shop that's japenese owned that sells japenese-made beauty products. All their beauty stuff, such as fake eyelashes and yes, nail polishes rock.

That's just a note saying ';made in japan'; items are also the best. What product is used in beauty salons to make nails extremely shinny?
Sorry I may not be much help but I do know that they used this gel that only gets put on if you get gel nails not acrylic. HTH
I like to have my nails buffed. There is no messy polish to dry and my nails shine beautifully.
There is a procedure they call ';gel'; that they apply, like acrylics and it is very hard and very shinny. After they apply it like polish, you need to place your hands in the little finger oven, not hot, for the gel to seal. It looks good and last a long time. Go check out your local store for pricing. It doesn't come off with nail polish remover tho. It can grow out with your nails or have they file it off if you don't like it.

How to trim nails from a dog that will absolutely?

not let you touch them? She is very sweet about it but will not allow it.How to trim nails from a dog that will absolutely?
My dog is horrible about having nails trimmed. The easiest way is to just take him to the groomers, but they charge way too much to just do his nails. If you really have to do it yourself, and your dog is small, like mine, you can do it the way I do. I put a gentle leader harness on him, so he can't nip at me while I have his paws. Then I wrap him in a towel, leaving only one paw out at a time, and hold him on my lap while I snip his toenails with a safety snipper. It's tricky, you have to hold on tight. My dog really wiggles, and really complains. He will even try to nip me. Sometimes I have to have my husband help me. It is tricky, because if he wiggles and the snipper slips at an angle it can cut too deep, and then it bleeds. So I try to keep lemon juice and cotton balls handy in case there is a problem. Good luck! You've got to keep the nails snipped, it can be a real health problem if they ingrow. We've tried everything and this is the best we can do. My dog is this way because his previous owner hurt him while clipping his mails but clipping them down too far. I keep that in mind when I clip his claws. Even though he wiggles and is bad, I try to not raise my voice or be mean, even though I have to be firm and not let him move. How to trim nails from a dog that will absolutely?
put a big sock on the dogs head so he/she wont attack u. or a pillow case will work or just put tape around the dogs mouth what ever works
You may just want to take her into the vet for regular trimmings. It normally doesn't cost very much, and they know how to hand hard to trim dogs. I know we did it very often at the clinic I worked at, and no matter how the dog acted, we always got it done.

Oh, and GitEmGang, it's very difficult to handle a dog that doesn't want something done. They do have teeth, and even it muzzled, they still have claws. And believe me they are bad enough. I still have a scar on my upper arm from one particularly hard to handle dogs nails.
Make an appointment with the vet..we have a lot of people that just can't do their dogs nails.. Sometimes we have to muzzle them and takes several people to hold them..That's usually alot of fun..but we get it done..it don't cost that much..

Who's the dog? WHO'S the HUMAN???

    Aren't *YOU* bigger,stronger,SMARTER???

    sheeeeeesh
Okay, you won't get anywhere by forcing the dog into having it done. You may accomplish the feat, but who wants to have to go through that every time you have to do the nails? Start by making it a GOOD thing. Get the dog while she is relaxed. Teach her to equate getting feet touched with a positive act. Dogs do what works. Touch a foot, give a treat or praise. Stop BEFORE the dog is uncomfortable. It will take some time, don't rush it. I can use a grinder on my dog's nails because I took the time to make it a positive experience. Once the dog is okay with touching her feet, bring out the nail clippers. Do as much or as little as the dog is comfortable with, don't rush it. Do a nail, give a treat. Don't let it escalate into a fight, because when you stop because the dog gives you a hard time, then she learns THAT'S what works, see what I mean? If sitting still earns you a treat, then THATS what works (for both of you!) You may have to work up to doing one whole foot, then two feet, etc... This isn't a quick fix, but it is a lifetime fix. Also, when doing the nails, don't attempt to tell the dog ';it's OK, baby'; while it is stressed, the dog will think it has a reason to be afraid. Be firm, but very patient. Anything worth doing is worth doing right, and the quickest path is not always the best.
You don't say how big this dog is....

Two people always works best and the correct size muzzle.

If it is a small dog, muzzle %26amp; wrap in towel. One person holds dog the other cuts.

If it is a big dog, muzzle and have the dog lay down on it's side. One person holds dog with towel covering the eyes, the other cuts.
first dont tey it alown. muzzel her (just in case), get someone to hold her down (if she is big maby 2 people) thin hold her leg still and trim the nails with a good dog claw trimmer.

or if you cant do this then get a vet or profesonal groomer or some one who has experance with trimming dificult dogs to do it.
well you can do it a few different ways. 1. get several people to restrain the pet, go quickly and get them all done at once. or 2. take several hours, maybe 2-3 days by doing 1 toe at a time, hopefully while feeding her something VERY yummy so she's a tad distracted and associates a good thing (eating yummy stuff) with something bad (toe trims). a little benadryl may take the fight out of her too...genreal rule of thumb is 1mg for every pound your dog weighs. SO a 75 pound lab can have 3 at once where a 25 pound cocker spaniel (or any dog smaller) can have just 1...maybe 2 depending on how nuts your dog really is! good luck
Well, I am a groomer and what you need to do is get a muzzle that fits him snug and put it on him, try to have someone hold him very close, n you would have to cut the nails while he is being held you most likely cant do it by your self because of him movin around so much!!
I would take her to the vet, they would be able to do it. Otherwise, take her for a lot of walks on cement, that wears down their nails quite a bit. Hope I helped.
GitEmGang, the dog might not be trying to bite. It possibly could just be wiggling around and if the dog will not hold still, the owner could end up hurting the dog through force.

Anyway, to answer the question, I would just take them to the vet to have it done. At my vet's office, they charge a low price and sometimes, if my dog is in for an examination anyway, they'll just throw a clipping in for free. While it is nice to be able to clip a dog's nails at home, sometimes no matter what you do, a dog will not allow it and there is no sense in causing the dog trauma by forcing it.
    Hello!

I'm sorry to say this, but, you will end up putting a muzzle on her if you want to trim her nails. I know someone located in Tucson that might be able to help you out, if you happen to live in Tucson. If you do, the place is called Rolling Hills Pet Clinic, and it's located at Golf Links and Kolb, in the Fry's Shopping Center. Once you get there, go inside and tell them what you need done, and tell them that you were referred to them by another patient of there's because of their great service.

    Thanks and Good Luck!
Put on some jeans. Turn her over close to you on her side with her back to you. Put both your legs over her, one by her neck and shoulders and the other by her stomach and hip, so she cannot move or bite. With your weight on her, just sit there quietly for as long as it takes to wear her out or until she gives in. Then clip away like you mean business. If she struggles, just sit there some more and clip away when she calms down. When you are done, hold her there and pet her for awhile before letting her up, and then give her a treat.
You should go to a vet and have them deal with her about triming her nails. Don't put yourself in danger when doing the nails. Vets are experienced with dogs that will not tolerate this kind of act. If you insist and don't want to pay roughly $9.00, you should have two people with you. One person should hold a treat in front of her and keep her distract her. The second person should cut the nail with a dog nail trimmer and go a little above the quick. You don't want to cut the quick in the nail. THe dog's nail will bleed and hurt even more.
get someone to hold her mouth, are exercise her that way she would not have so much energy and will be easier to control, your the dominant one not the dogs

    watch dog whisper.
OMG! And I thought my dog was the only one who was like that.

Well I have a pomeranian, who is the sweetest thing ever, and he wouldn't let us touch him. He had his nails in his hind legs grow into his skin because he wouldn't let us touch him.

We asked the vet to come to our house, because the dog wouldn't even get in the car. He was given total anesthesia, and the vet trimmed him nails. This went on for many years (our dog is 8yrs) , till last year when the vet did surgery so that the two big nails wouldn't grow anymore. We were sad, but that was the only thing we could do, because we didn't want to see our dog go through the distress when he is being given the anesthesia. ( he is scared of needles)

Anyway, ever since he's been fine, and we are not worried about his nails anymore.

So that's something that you can do. Good Luck!
take your dog to the vet to have it done, otherwise try what we do: my husband clips the nails while i hold the dog and feed her face the whole time. for some reason she is more interested in the food thats in my hand than she is in my husband cutting her nails. it works every time.
I understand I have a 9 pound dog that completely freaks out when it's time for her nails to be cut. I just take her to petsmart to get them cut or when she has to go to the vet, I get them to cut her nails there. It's better than getting all scratched up.
I'd take her to the vet and have them do it.. I certainly wouldn't sit on her or stress her over it.

    |yes obviously ...if you want to stop coat finger tips and nails liberally with flesh from the inside of scotch bonnet chillies should stop the rot for long enough to let you see the error of your ways, be careful not to put fingers in your eyes, and particularly careful when using toilet
no biting your nails and flesh around it does not make you a cannibal

Try ';Pumice'; soap. This works well for ground in dirt.
Lava soap. There is also a powder you can sprinkle on your hands. Either works fine. Sorry, I don't remember the name of the powder.
i heard somewhere about trying coca-cola..takes out a lot of stuff
Try a basic manicure w/ antibacterial soap w/ peroxide and scrub with a nail brush or toothbrush. If that don't work try the hand cleaning stuff that the auto mechanic uses.

What kind of nails or screws should be used with vertical Hardiplank?

I checked the jameshardie website too see what kind of nails I should use on the vertical hardiplank that I am about to put up, but the website did not say what kind of nails should be used for the vertical hardiplank.

It says what kind of nails should be used for the hardiplank lapsiding, but not for the vertical siding. Can somebody please tell me what kind of nails or screws I should use? What kind of nails or screws should be used with vertical Hardiplank?
if you don,t want the nails showing nail at an angle, use 2 inch finishing nails,What kind of nails or screws should be used with vertical Hardiplank?
HardiPlank has its own line of fasteners for each use. Check with your supplier (where you purchased the plank) for the ones recommended for your specific application
use the same type as recommended for the horizontal . should be exterior type fastener.most likely 7 or 8 penny galvanized. generally when nailing exterior siding you want to use a headed nail, so that its harder for contraction and exspansion to work it loose.

Random question I know but should I trim my nails before or after taking a shower?

I have read that after your nails have been soaked in water it makes them softer and easier to trim but I am not sure...Any ideas? Thanks.Random question I know but should I trim my nails before or after taking a shower?
You should definitely cut your nails after a shower (or at least after they have been soaking). Cutting dry nails can cause more breakage of the nail, esp. if they are already brittle. You should also use very sharp instruments as to alleviate breaking instead of cutting the nails.Random question I know but should I trim my nails before or after taking a shower?
yeah, do it when you get out of the shower. Thats what I do and my nails acutally look longer.
Do it after shower as it becomes softer and easier to trim with.
Your nails are softer after they have been soaked in water, so I would trim them after taking a shower.
After as the nails will be softened and more easily cut!
try doing it after the shower the nails will be softer and easier to do.
before because it makes it easier for the soap and water to clean under them
it's true and it also makes your nails cleaner.
    after definately (:

There are products on the market that you can apply to your nails so that when you start biting, you get a horrible taste. I dont know any specific names but have a search on the internet see what you can find.
There is this cream that you can put on your nails that tastes horrid so you don't go near them, I'm not sure where it's from but all my friends said it worked for them
paint them or if you bite your nails daily them put nail polish remover on them everyday.
Paint them. Get a manicure. Eat food or chew gum to keep you mouth busy. Sit on them.
File them smooth, then paint them, and keep them painted. Works for me.
Paint them. Then, if you bite them, you'll get sick.
take vitamins and they will make them stronger and better looking and this will make you stop biting your nails

    1. Solar Oil 3 times a day

    2. Polish with ';Toughen Up'; Base coat by CND

    3. Don't rip them off next time! Go to a properly trained technician and have him/her soak it off in acetone

Hope that helps %26lt;3What product is good to use after having acrylic nails removed?
Burts Bees lemon/lime cuticle oil. It's amazing, and smells really good. Then use a Sally Hansen Nail Repairer polish to top it off.

What is the most conservative way to do your nails for a job interview?

I have a job interview with the Army JAG Corps and I need to look as conservative and professional as possible. I am going to pull my hair back and wear a muted, neutral skirt suit with pearl earrings.

But what color should I do my nails? Should I get a pale pink, a bright red, a french manicure, or just paint them clear? I am interviewing for a legal position and legal employers always say their interviewees are not conservative enough. So what is the most conservative way to do your nails?

I need to look like Margaret Thatcher, basically.

Also, would you wear an american flag pin with your suit if you were interviewing for a civilian job with the military?

Any other advice on how to look as conservative %26amp; professional as possible at a job interview would be welcome. Thanks! What is the most conservative way to do your nails for a job interview?
Well groomed, clear polish, or pale pink. Nails no longer the 1/2 inch past the finger tip. 23 Years of military experiance. What is the most conservative way to do your nails for a job interview?
    french mani or pale pink
trim your nails fairly short, rounded and with a french manicure. this still makes you looked groom but not like your going to walk down the street after your interview and hit the club.
The way to go is DEFINATELY the clear french manicure. Nothing else, it will do the trick!
The nail line should be clean and the color should be as sublte as possible.

As for the pin, I wouldnt it looks like your trying too hard. Keep your makeup clean and simple.

Other than that, you sound prepared.
    pale pink
a short french manicure is best for looking conservative, more conservative would be a plain buff with no polish. Flag pin, ok, if tasteful. good luck, hope this helps
Simple, pink nails are the best. French manicure almost looks ghetto. And a conservative pin is fine, but please do not wear an american flag pin. It is not very professional.
    weeelll

red will not do. Red makes you look classic yet not as if you want this job. A french Manicure WiLL do because it makes it looks soft and innocent. It makes you look like a Pro
Paint your nails clear and yes wear the pin.....also don't wear very high pencil thin heels, it won't look very conservative.
hold the pin. they take that as tacky. i would go with a neutral or french, but a very subtle pink is very sleek also
Flag would be cliche, ridiculous and childish. French is the most classy conservative way. Wear minimizer bras if you have big ones to look more conservative, and a long skirt suit, with simple NEVER HIGH-HEEL classy shoes.
I would suggest wearing your nails short with just a clear coat of polish on them. If you have the money and time I'd stop in for a quick manicure, have the manicurist push your cuticles back, buff your nails, and give them a nice coat or two of polish. Seems to me that the most conservative women I've met always have plain nails. As to the American flag on your suit....I definitely would add one, as long as it's simple and classic looking, not one of those plastic blinking light ones, lol....but you already knew that :)
Your ideas are perfect. Nails: should be SHORT and either pale, pale pink, almost colorless, obviously matte. But not ';pink-pink'; - but instead a pale PINK/BEIGE. NOT RED OR FRENCH!!!

Yes, wear the American flag pin; the President wears it, you should too!!
clear, french manicure or another very pale color, not red.

What kind of nails are those that they sell in stores? How do you do them?

Is it better to go get your nails done or get the kind out of the stores in the packages? What kind of nails are those that they sell in stores? How do you do them?
Get your nails done by a professional. It costs more but looks so much better and will last longer. If you are only going to use them for one night then try the store bought ones and practice before you need them.

The downside is the condition of your nails if you get the professional one removed. What kind of nails are those that they sell in stores? How do you do them?
getting them done is always better, they last alot longer but they do cost alot more, but they wont fall off till they grow alot....store bought however will fall off in a few days but they are alot cheaper, if you do buy store bought ones make sure they come with a bottle of glue(for replacing broken ones etc. ) and because press on ones suck!
Fake nails? I would suggest getting them done in a salon. They really damage your nails a lot, since you have to use nail glue. If you do a lot of work around the house they will fall off easily. Once I put fake nails on and when I took them off part of my nail chipped off. (Yes, I mean skin-colored part)
Get your nails done from the Nail Salon is better then the store ones....I get my Nails done every 2 -3 weeks at the Nail Salon ...i get Tips
If you only want to wear them for a few days then get them at the store. I do that when I want to wear my nails long and polished black(I'm not a goth guy, just think it's cool)
Get them done! It is sooo hard to do them alone, trust me, especially with no training.
The ones at the store are hard to put on without help and can really damage your nails. Plus they often look cheap unless you get really good ones. Best bet is to go to the nail salon. If you're looking to not spend a lot, just get simple acrylic tips that are put on profesionally. They look really good and run about $27 in NY
Well, they come in 1 penny, 2 penny, etc. and you drive them in with a hammer. I usually have to put them in a sack myself. You can buy little finishing nails pre-packaged.

What is the easiest way to remove acrylic fake nails?

Please keep in mind I got them on three days ago for an occasion but I play soccer and do not wish for them to stay on for my game tomorrow. What is the easiest way to remove acrylic fake nails?
u have to go back and pay money to get them off

my friend had that and she pulled them off and they hurt her like crazy

she was screaming in gym class and it really ruined her nails

depending on how long they are i say keep them. its a waste of money for them to take it off.

y would u get it done if you would want to take them off in 3 days.. nevermind i just re-read it. you should of just got a manicure or something

unless you want crazy pain i say keepthemWhat is the easiest way to remove acrylic fake nails?
oh that is going to hurt since they are so fresh, all the nail tech will do is soak in acetone for a while then take off with they clippers. so i would go to the beauty store gets some acetone and nail clippers and it will come off. without having to pay a tech to do it. you can do it yourself at home while watching t.v.
go to a nail salon and have them removed

How can I break the habit of biting my nails?

I really want to let my nails grow out, but I'm constantly biting them. What is a good way to break this habit? How can I break the habit of biting my nails?
Carry a nail file at all times. I find that I bite a tiny bit then my nail is bumpy on the end and I'll bite it untill it's straight and smooth... which end sup being really short, if you have a file then when it happens you can sort it quickly.

Also try to keep pretty paint on your nails... sometimes that stops me because I dont want to ruin it.

Acrylic is an option because you cant bite your nails then.. but they do ruin your nails underneith.

My beauty teacher told us biting your nails is worse than licking a toilet seat, so think of that everytime you do it! lolHow can I break the habit of biting my nails?
Some people told me to get a worry stone or something to keep my hands busy when i get nervous or feel like biting my nails....it didn't work. I finally learned to break the habit on my own by putting on nail polish and when i felt like picking at my nails, i picked at the polish instead. Or when i stuck my fingers in my mouth to chew off my nails, i got a mouthful of nail polish. My friend suggested that you coat your nails in hot sauce or perfume (she likes hot sauce...she had to find something else that tasted bad) and so when you put your finger nail in your mouth, get a nasty taste in your mouth and decide it's not worth the bad taste to chew your nail. Then after a while, you break the habit =D
you can sometimes just try to resist (thats how i got out of it)

you can put nail polish on them (it always has that weird taste)

you can clip your nails real short

sometimes you could just grow out of it

    hope it helps.. good luck!
i wouldn't put tape or anything on them but every time u bite them u have to give your self a punishment (eg. give $0.25 back to your parents from your allowance, pinch yourself really hard, or put nail polish on them that smells or tastes bad. Hope that helps.
i put tape on my fingers for a week.

and after a week i like stopped having that urge to bite them =p

  • How can you make a bunch of nails stick to one nail without the help from anything else?

    (ex: no glue, tape, etc.)

I'm trying to figure that out.

So, there's a nail that is hammered into a block of wood. We have to try to take a bunch of other nails (like 10 or something) and make it all balance on top of the single nail.

How do I do that? How can you make a bunch of nails stick to one nail without the help from anything else?
Make them magnetic. You can do that by pointing one end north, and hitting the other end with a hammer, for every nail. But it doesn't work every time. How can you make a bunch of nails stick to one nail without the help from anything else?
Yeah, Tori has it right. But you have to do it the same way porcupines copulate: Very carefully.

use a buffer and clear nail polish. thats about all you can do for now.How do you repair fingernails after you remove acrylic nails?
    se a salon
I just removed my artificial nails too. There are some great products that you can use to get your nails back to full health after freeing them from artificial nails/wraps/acrylics.

Nailtiques is a great brand to try. It's a bit pricey -- running between $7-$10 a bottle. I am using Sally Hansen's ';Nail Protex.'; That one's a bit cheaper -- running about $4 per bottle.

Both of these products are excellent, available in drugstores like CVS, and will help to strengthen and repair your nails back to where they were before artificial nails came into your life.

Believe me, I know what you're dealing with. I can say that I am very happy with the Sally Hansen Protex. Within three days, my nails felt thicker and stopped hurting from the artificial nail removal.

    Good luck!
use a filer, and file on the surface of your nails.

then get a clear top coat and paint it over :)
I just gotta say, thanks for this question, I can tell one of my acrylic nails is about to fall off any day now haha :D x
