How to secure nails in drywall?

My apartment walls are made of butter! Nails just don't stay put. I installed some shelves a week ago, today the weight of the shelves has caused the nail to actually cut downward through the hole, enlarging it. I had to take out the shelves as the brackets were almost falling down. I got those plastic anchors for the screws but I don't want to drill into a wall that soft. Suggestions please? How to secure nails in drywall?
try metal anchors they work real good on shelves or just find the studs and use 1 inch thead drywall screws not nails. How to secure nails in drywall?
you need to lightly tap on your wall to see where are the places that the drywall is drilled in with the metal. once you find that the tapping is not holow anymore..you can pick a height on that line to drill

sorry that the pages are not in english....
You need to locate the wall studs and nail or screw into them

If so where do you get better glue? How come fake nails at walmart don't stick when you put them on? Is it that the glue is bad?
if you get the ';real life'; brand they will stay on for about five days. the regular clear thin super glue stuff the others comes with suck. these nails come with a pink gel glue and it works sooo much better. they're the only kind i getHow come fake nails at walmart don't stick when you put them on? Is it that the glue is bad?
Yes that is a good idea and it works well. There are also the kind that are stick on. and the last pretty long at well. But If your going for them to stay for a while i would get them done for about 25 bucks and they last about a month if paint them or w/e but if you get them to look like ur normal nail then it doesnt look bad.
I use Krazy glue or any kind of super glue. Yes,really :)

nail polish remover, then rinse off w/ water %26amp; then wash w/ soap %26amp; warm water , worked for me
nail polish remover is the best at removing glue. or you can use a certain chemical wich for some reason i cannot remeber the name of it , well it's something that you would find at a hardware store. you best bet will be nailpolish remover. it removes super glue too.

You value your nails and their appearance very much just by virtue of the fact you asked about them. Yes, the manicure sounds like a wise choice by you, a wise person.

if you want your nails all to be long try taking nail growth and strengthening vitamins. but if you want them short, cut the left hand often and file them down into the same shape.

as for filing the left hand: see if you can get someone else to file them for you, then maybe you could follow that shape???
go amd do some regular manicure
go see a nail doctor if they have one in your area.
    file them down to shape.

What ingredient is in prenatal vitamins that makes hair/nails grow?

Is it just biotin or a combination of them all? What ingredient is in prenatal vitamins that makes hair/nails grow?
B-6, biotin, Inositol, folic acid, magnesium, sulfur, silica and zinc and Beta-carotene all help with hair growth.

Just FYI though a lot of the extra hair growth during pregnancy is due to hormones, not the prenatal vitamins. What ingredient is in prenatal vitamins that makes hair/nails grow?
i honestly never thought it was the prenatal pills that did it- but all the hormones in your body that made you hair and nails grow. idk-just my opinion cuz i tried taking prenatal vitamins a couple years ago and i ws not pregnant and i never saw any changes in my hair or nails
Vitamin B-6 ,Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Vitamin B-complex Eat right food, exercise, reduce stress, rest, gets lots of sleep and your are well on your way to maximizing your hair growth potential. To Know more about your hair http://tipsfromruby-hairgrow.blogspot.co鈥?/a> will help you.
It has more to do with the hormones and the increased blood flow than the vitamins. Taking prenatal vitamins when you're not pregnant won't do much to improve your hair and nails.
Well there's more iron in prenatals and there's folic acid. SO I would guess one of those.
Folic acid is supposed to help.
good question, i want to know the answer to this too.

How do I control my cat while clipping his nails?

I know ';how'; to clip his nails, but he gets so mad and crazy that he scrathces me and tries to bite me.He really hates it and I can't get it done. How can I sedate or calm him down? How do I control my cat while clipping his nails?
Most cats have a fit when you try to clip their nails. You can try to restrain them or protect yourself by wearing leather gloves and heavy clothing, but it really doesn't adress the root problem.

You need to get your cat used to the idea of your clipping the nails. You can start by holding and touching his paws when you aren't clipping them. When you have him in your lap and are being affectionate, try to touch his paws and hold them. Squeeze them like you do when you are about to clip them. Progress very slowly to get him used to your handling his paws in this way.

Eventually, once he is comfortable with your touching and squeezing his paws, get out the clippers and keep them near you when he is on your lap. Continue to condition him to be near the clippers with you holding his paws. Progress to holding the clippers in your hand, moving them near his paws, and eventually, touching him with the clippers. Do all of this without clipping his nails.

Once he is used to the objects and the touching, you can try to clip his nails. He'll probably object at first and try to run away, but you'll have developed a trusting relationship with him, and you should have a bit more control of the situation.

If none of this works, put him in a pillowcase and wear a leather jacket and heavy gloves. *JK* Good luck! How do I control my cat while clipping his nails?
Wrap the kitty gently in a towel and clip each foot one at a time. Usually this will calm the kitty down and also keep you from getting bit or scratched.
wait until he is peacefully enjoying a nap

try to be as careful as you can not to disturb him

    good luck
try doing it when he is sleeping(sleepy)or calm.If that doesn't work get a professional to do it or you can get him declawed.....
There are several ways to do this. No matter which way you choose it will require two people. One to hold kitty the other to trim the nails. The easiest for an owner is to wrap you cat up in a towel like a kitty burrito. Then pull out on leg at a time and clip the nails. Another way to do this is hold your cat like your vet and the assistant do. This can be hard for some owners because they feel bad doing this. Basically you want to use one had to scruff you cat and the other to hold his back legs then stretch him out on the table while the other person clips his nails. Of course sometimes it's just easier to pay a groomer to do this. (the groomer will be cheaper than going to the vet in most cases) I read an answer earlier than mine that said don't clip the nails. Don't listen to this person. If your cats nails grow into the pad of his paws your are going to have one angry cat on your hands and an expensive vet bill.
Maybe I'm just lucky, but I cut our two cats' nails while they're sleeping or relaxing when I'm making a fuss of them. I usually just press on the large pad in the middle of their paw and their claws extend enough for me to clip them.

Does he usually mind you touching his paws? Perhaps if he's used to you touching them he will be more relaxed when you need to handle them in order to clip his nails. Gradually build up his tolerance of having his paws touched and then you can try again. If he lets you do it, give him a reward so that he learns to associate it with something enjoyable.
You don't. I wrap my kitty in a towel so he can't see what I'm doing. He still fights, only with the towel and not me
    stop clipping his nails.
The only thing that I can suggest is that you have someone that is familiar with cats and their weird moods hold the cat while you clip. I have three cats and have my daughter or husband hold them firmly while I clip. I don't have a problem with them wanting to bite or scratch me, but they aren't real happy when I'm clipping.
wrap him/her in a towel or blanket and make sure the front legs are in . taking one leg out at a time. easier if you have an extra pair of hands
What tunsa said is right. A big problem is you really have to start this when they are young.

Also, any Vet should do this for you for free. Hopefully your cats don't mind car rides and/or the carrying case.
Sit on him. Don't do them all at once.
I wrap my cats in a towel when I do this.
your not supposed to cut cats nails. if you let your cat outside then he will ware down his nails. my cat chooses to stay out about from the morning until tea time and her nails are great. good luck
i agree with wrapping him in a towel or two even. if he is getting worked up that bad though just do one foot, wait a couple hours then do the other. finish the last two the next day. that way you dont stress him out too bad, and when you are done give him a special treat.
My cat isn't that crazy when I clip her claws, but she still fidgets. I recommend petting your cat before you clip his claws to calm him down or pick a time when he is already calm and try it that way. Maybe have someone hold him while you clip them.

What is the easiest way to cut my dogs nails?

I have a 6month golden retriever and her nails are getting really long, and we have a dogs nail clipper, but every time we try to cut it she eithers pull her paw away, or try to bite us, and what is the easiest way to cut her nails with out hurting her and without her pulling her paw away??

Thanks shela. What is the easiest way to cut my dogs nails?
Thanks for asking this question. I'm not trying to be a smart ***, but taking the dog to the groomer or vet is probably the best. All 4 of my dogs have black nails, so unless you really know how to clip them properly, you could end up cutting their toes/fingers.

I usually cut off only the very pointy tips of the nails in between groomer visits. I refuse to go as short as a groomer can. I accidentally cut one of my dogs and I felt so bad.

I really wish that I knew how to cut them properly, but after cutting him I'm hesitant to do it myself. What is the easiest way to cut my dogs nails?
cut them bit by bit so she dotn feel it.. stupid...
we use to have the same problem,we bought a dremel or small hand held grinder, try to get her use to the noise or have some one help you hold her ,she is probably just scared because you show some fear, its harder when the dogs nails are black.
I agree, take it to the vet or doggie clinic to have them cut. It's really cheap %26amp; they'll be able to handle a squirmy puppy. My pit puppy is 6 months old %26amp; it's soo hard to clip hers.

When your dog gets older, i.e. calms down, it will be easier to clip them. Also, if you take her for long walks or play with her on a concrete surface, they'll file down naturally. Good cutting!
pay someone to do it for you!!
take your pet to a professional groomer.
I used to have to cut my Great Dane's nails, and the only way I was able to do it was to sit on top of her, exerting just enough pressure that she couldn't move backwards or forwards, Then you have to hold the paw firmly with one hand, and cut just the TIP of each nail very quickly. Be careful you are not cutting into the quick of the nail, as that is painful for the dog. You may want to have someone else help you hold the dog; i.e., one person should hold the dog's mouth closed while you cut the nails.
I too learned the hard way. Pay someone to do it for you. It is so worth the money not t have to go through that. My dog has a nervous breakdown whenever she see's the clippers.
Start off by pouring yourself a nice glass of Chardonnay. Sit around and contemplate your strategy. Stare down the dog. Get out the clippers. Lay them by the dog. Drink more wine. Then go to the medicine cabinet-get the Benadryl. Give some to the dog. Then take some for yourself. Then it's time to play. Play ball or tug of war for about 20 min. 'till the dog is tired. Gulp the wine. Now, set the dog in your lap, facing away from you, pick up the clippers, and ever so gently take off a tiny bit of the nail......too much and you will never want to do it again. Too much and the dog will not let you do it again!
Take her to the vet! They will do it for like $5. :)
the most easiest way is to take her to the vet. that costs. when she is sleeping try to walk slowly and cut her nails. if she wakes up she'll probably go back to sleep. for my dog, i use a regular nail clipper
    options

*while she is sleeping (one nail each time she sleeps)

    *Grab her between 6 ..

*destract her while some one cuts them off
go to a pet groomer but if you don't want to spend money i don't know how to cut dog nail (never tried it) oh wait maybe be al little clever make your dog eat and while he's eating go for the nails ;-)

I know they are just dead cells like hair but is there something that might cause some to grow faster than others? Some of my nails grow faster than the others?
I can't really tell you why some grow faster then others. That's a really good question. I have been a Nail Technician for 9 years and have never had that come up. Mine do the same thing. Sorry I cant help!

*Also remember if you are right handed then you are using that hand more which naturally you are more rough with.*Some of my nails grow faster than the others?
it all depends on the health of your cuticles. If they are more helthy, then your nails will grow faster. every thwo or three days, soak your hands in luke warm soapy water, and moisturize your cuticles. After they will all be haelthy, and should grow at about the same rate.

I know that there is this block looking thing that takes off most of the bad things off your nails then shines them by the 3/4th step. It literally only takes like 30 seconds per nail. it also comes with cuticle oil to help as well. I love it, and it makes my nails even though they are short look beautiful cuz i had acrylics too. It helps them grow Too! The block is called a nail buffer and the brand name is Etre. The following link is where you can buy it, or if you are in a mall, most of them have it advertised in the middle where all those annoying people stand and try to get you to try things. Blue Tac or 3M commander like hooks. You can find them at craft stores (framing section) and office supply stores, even some discounters. They are great because 3M rates them by the weight of what you are hanging and they do no damage to the wall after you remove them.
There are peel and stick hangers which can be applied to your walls and then just hang the pictures on them the same as conventional hangers. They are easy to remove without damaging your walls. Try Walmart, Home Depot or Walgreens.
    ..........screws
I have to go with ';eskie';3M stick on hangers, no damage, easy to use. easy to take off. I have used them many times as an alternative to anchors. The only draw back limited to weight, heavier objects require conventional methods.

Nail biting is a sign of stress. You need to help your child find more positive outlets for his negative energy, like exercising, sports, or a hobby. Good luck! How do you stop a child from biting his nails?
thy rewarding him with something when he does not bit his nails, it does not have to be much, liek maybe a dime or something
it maybe a sign of stress or just a habit that he formed
Put hot sauce on his fingers.... Just kidding. Maybe something bitter though.
My gram tried it all, even that nasty Thumbs stuff...... I bite my nails due to stress and so does my daughter, their are alot worse to worry about. Try getting him more relaxed.

The more u tell him to stop the more it will cause him to do it.
You can try raking his nails over soap constantly. Soap tastes really bad and may make him stop. Usually that is a nervous habit. When you see him biting his nails try to involve him in another activity that uses his hands. Try craft projects.
well I told my daughter if she kept bitting her nail she would get sick
i heard of rubbing garlic on it
paint the nails with clear nailpolish. when he bites them, it will taste horrible, and hell stop biting. dont worry, it wont harm him.
Why is he bitting them? I use to because i was scared. maybe you should show him some nasty pictures of what they can look like when he grows up.
hmm, well i would not put something on there that could hurt him try dipping his fingers in vinegar or something sour that will make him take his hands down

twinka he is friggin 4..not 16
cut his nails or put hot sauce on his nails so every time he tries to chew his nails his mouth will get hot!!!!!!!!!

When can I start trimming my baby guinea pigs nails?

I think they're about 6 weeks old. I was going to trim their nails, but I read on the guinea lynx site that you should start trimming them when they're 2 months old. Can I do it sooner? When can I start trimming my baby guinea pigs nails?
YES! it is best to start trimming their nails as soon as possible so they get used to it. Just be careful and cut a tiny bit off at a time. You don't want to cut the ';quick'; which will make their nail bleed for a while. But the earlier the better...just be careful! When can I start trimming my baby guinea pigs nails?
Basically nail trimming is done for your comfort and the GP's, so there is no set time to start but 3 or 4 months is usually plenty soon enough. If you find that you are getting scratched or pricked by the nails but that they are not really long enough to need trimming or retrimming, take a nail file or emory board and just remove the sharp tips.
It really depends on how long their nails are. Make sure you don't cut further then the pink part of its nail, or it'll start bleeding. Get them used to regular trimmings,so they feel comfortable.

My guinea pig got her nails cut once, and she started squirming and I almost cut off the whole nail, so my tips:

Give them a treat whilst cutting.

Get someone to hold the guinea pig, whilst you trim.

Cut their nails every 2-3 weeks.
no need -be sure the pig's habitat has a bit of concrete or heavy wood. the more the pig moves, the easier it is for the nails to stay trim on their own. the pig rarely needs to be picked up (for its own safety), so you don't have to worry about getting cut.

  • What kind of nails should go in the wall to hang a picture using sawtooth hanger?

I am trying to hang a picture with dimensions 39*15 on the wall and it has 2 sawtooth hangers at top of each ends. What kind of nails (and their dimensions) should i put in wall to hold the sawtooth hanger? as in, flat head, brad (i am not even sure what they mean tho') and can i put the nail in directly in the wall?

this is my first time hanging a picture, any help/ suggestions much appreciatedWhat kind of nails should go in the wall to hang a picture using sawtooth hanger?
The type of nail would depend on the weight of the frame etc. If it is heavier than a few pounds than you want to nail directly into a stud if the spacing allows. A 4d(penny) box nail will work fine. Other options are screws with anchors if your wall covering is drywall, or there are several types of adhesive hangers. Scotch Brand makes some nice ones. What kind of nails should go in the wall to hang a picture using sawtooth hanger?
    1. I would use nails that are at least one inch long, preferably ones with wide heads such as that of a roofing nail.

    2. You can cut a piece of wire and wrap/twist/tie one end around each sawtooth hanger, leaving a little slack, and hammer one nail (at least two inches long) at an upfacing angle into the wall (making sure that you are nailing into a stud, which you can locate by tapping along the wall until you here a solid thump) and hang the picture on that by the wire.
Don't use plain nails! Use picture hanger hooks. They are cheap and available at any hardware store, home center or department store. They work great for pictures up to about 75 lbs. They do very little damage to the wall if you decide to move the pictures.

You do not need to find a stud for just a picture.

What can biting nails do to the teeth?

Even though my teeth look nice and perfect, there must be something wrong because I bite my nails!

Thanks. What can biting nails do to the teeth?
well it wont do anything to ur teeth thats for sure. but ur nails willb out of shape. also if ur nails r long then they could contaminate food stuff.

but to answer ur question ,you can continue biting off nails without affecting ur teethWhat can biting nails do to the teeth?
    nothing
it's bad habit,,,when u want to put ur nails in mouth thinks that ur nails contains millions of bacteria and germs and this is a common way of many disease transmission ...i had have the same habit and get rid of it by this way ,but it's actully not affect ur teeth ,,,good luck
    There's nothing wrong, it's just a behavior.

You may wear down your teeth slightly by biting, but probably not enough to worry about.

The best way to cure nail biting is to replace it with another behavior in response to the rough nail. Usually people bite whenever they see or feel a rough spot or broken edge on their nails. Carry a nail file and clipper with you all the time and when you feel that rough edge, file or snip it off until it's smooth.

If you tend to bite whenever you see white growth, simply clip your nails down before you get much white showing, and over time you'll find you don't want to bite it.

Try it! It helps a lot of people!
it should be the otherway around shouldn't it
it might rub the enamel off over time but i don't think it can do real damage.

How much should I tip to get my nails done?

I get my nails done every two weeks my finger nails cost $15 and my toes $25. What is a good tip for each? How much should I tip to get my nails done?
a good rule of thumb (no pun intended) is to just double the number, then move the decimal point over one so $15x2 is $30.00, move over one decimal= $3.00 likewise $25x2=$50.00, then $5 This is an easy way to figure out a 20% tip. If the service was bad, adjust down alittle, if it was great, adjust up.How much should I tip to get my nails done?
I have one lady that does Both for me , an I give her 10-15$ , she's great , I Alawys Tip according to How i Like what she did !!
    $5 bucks each
It depends on if you are getting your tips done. I NEVER tip my dentist.
A tip of 20% is minimal if you are happy. I would round that up to $3 to $5
I usually just give an extra $5. If that's not possible at the moment I at least give $2-$3.
You just paid them 40$. They are self employed most of the time. Why would you tip them.
It depends on how well they service u, if u have a regular person that does your nails %26amp; they do an excellent job everytime i'd say about $10 ($5 for you nails %26amp; $5 for your toes)!! It's up 2 u though, how much do u feel like tipping?, that's the price u should go with.

I need some ideas. I write (and paint) with my right hand, so I need some ideas that I can do with my left hand just as good as I would paint it with my right hand.

Thanks in advance, all your help is definitily appreciated! What are some cool ways to paint my nails?
Once my sister drew designs on them with marker and then painted over them, it looked pretty cool. You can buy little stickers and jewels and stuff to put on them, or try different colors on different nails, try making your nails rainbow! lol. Or even try different colors on the same nails, make stripes or make little hearts and stuff. This stuff would probably be hard to do with your left hand, but most things probably would, maybe you can get a friend to help you : )What are some cool ways to paint my nails?
Paint your nails the color u want then take a tooth pick and make desgins or u can get them done!!!
Well a way to make it easy is to get a thin table or some thing you can put between the nail and skin then you can make a french that way. If the whole thing is going to be 1 color though just paint your nail from the bottom to the top quickly and it doesnt matter if your finger gets dirty clean it later after the nail drys up...
Sometimes just alternating colours looks good. Try something like one nail red, one white, and so on. It's not any harder than painting your nails as you usually do, but it's different :)
you could go to Sally and buy some of the little thin brush nail polish and draw little hearts or butterflies. they also make some little rhinestones.

well i think put clear nail polish thats what i do and im being serious. hoped i helped. What is the fastest way to grow your nails?
    By leaving them alone.

Just like hair, you can't really influence their growth (except by eating a good diet, so your body has what it needs to build them) -- all you can really do is keep from damaging them and breaking them off. So, fiddling with them, biting them, picking at them, opening things with them, all will weaken them and increase the chances of breakage.

The only thing that might do any good that I know of, is to rub the cuticles with a strong moisturizer; keeps them more supple and the friction slightly increases the bloodflow to the cuticle. I doubt you could actually notice a difference in growth from this, but it helps keep your cuticles in good condition so you're less likely to pick at them, and makes the nails slightly stronger and more flexible, so less likely to break. I like Burt's Bees lemon cuticle cream.
B vitamins are good for nails and hair, so you could try eating foods rich in vitamin B and/or take supplements. They are also good for your metabolism %26amp; mood. :)

There are also solutions that come in bottles like nail polish which make your nails stronger. They won't make them grow faster, but they will help prevent them from breaking which will make it seem like they grow faster.
Theres this kind of clear nail polish thats like vitamins for your nails.

You just put some on as a base coat, over the nail polish, or naturally. You should also maintain a balanced diet, rich in vitamins and minerals.

Then in no time, your nails should grow faster!

I used to bite my nails also. I evaluated why I would do that, and found out that it was because I couldn't stand long nails. They got in my way. I keep them a short as I can. That stopped the habbit.

If they get to long, I will still bite them now. I just have to remember to cut them.
Start going to get regular manicures. Don't get artificial nails, because some people end up biting those and they might hurt your teeth if you do that.

What is the difference between acrylic and fiberglass nails at salons?

When getting sculptured nails, what is the difference between acrylic and fiberglass, which one is better and why? What is the difference between acrylic and fiberglass nails at salons?
Fiberglass nail wraps are good for people with weak, soft, ot bitten nails. However, they are not as strong as acrylic nails, and are not a good choice for people who use their hands a lot as they will easily break apart on this type of person. They are also requested by people who are allergic to acrylic nails, or those who have a fear of acrylics ruining their nails. But overall, acrylic is definitely stronger, and more durable than fiberglass nail wraps will ever be. The one and only reason that they are often more expensive than acrylic nails is because they take so long to apply. It can take several hours to wrap the nails on both hands. Acrylic can be applied in an hour or so. Thus, the price difference that you will sometimes see but that is not always the case. And if they are more expensive, the difference is quite a small sum.

I hope this helpsWhat is the difference between acrylic and fiberglass nails at salons?
I didn't mean that fiberglass nails were bad for everyone, and I'm glad they are working out well for you. It sounds like you made a good choice :-)

i think fiberglass are slightly better for your nails as they allow the nail to breathe which makes them less brittle when you eventually have them removed
The difference between Acrylic %26amp; Fibreglass is basically the strength. Fibreglass is much stronger than Acrylic, and is less prone to cracks and breaks... That is why Fibreglass is generally more expensive.

If you have a small nailbed, you are better getting Fibreglass, however it is entirely up to you. Ask your nail lady if you have any queries!

You can buy a type of nailpolish at places like wal-mart and target i think..it supposivly smells bad and tastes bad which makes you not wanna bite them... its made for reasons like this... my sisters friend used it and it worked for her so I recommed you try it.. and if you can't find it look around or ask the people working there if they have a product for nail biting habits.. Good Luck :P

I used to be an extreme nail biter. I mean my fingers used to bleed sometimes.

But what I did was polish them my favorite color and decorate them with designs and stuff. I didn't get fake nails to help them grow either.

And after awhile I realized that I didn't WANT to bite my nails because I didn't want to mess up the design that I had worked so hard on.

It took awhile but now my nails are longer and much prettier. And when I get the urge to bite them, I chew some gum. It definitely helps me.
I have the exact same problem but ive tried everthing. It works but once they get they get long i bite them down to nothing again. The best thing iveused was sally hansons nail growth in the gold bottle. It works. In about 7 days your nail will be at least 33% longer. Trust me it works, just dont bite them when they get long again. Oh yeah bye the way this nail stuff is about 7 dollars. Hope i helped and good Luck!
My daughter was a nail biter and how she finally stopped this bad habit of hers was she went to a nail salon and they put acrylic tips on the end. She then had nice nails.

When she found she was anxious or nervous over something is when she bit her nails. She said when she bit into the tip it was not soft, and she noticed she was doing that. She then picked up twizzler and chewed on that instead, when she ran out of twizzlers she started tapping her fingers or toes. That is how she broke herself out of the habit of chewing her nails.

She did not find using stuff like this helpful at all. http://www.stopbitingnails.com/
Here's something that helps. Get a good nail file and trim them down so they don't snag on your clothing. That will make you forget they are there. The bitter varnish might help too.
if you go to a drug store or any local stores they should have a nail vanish specially made for people who has biting problem. What it does is, it tastes horrible. So first few times you might try and bite your nails but after tasting it, you won't. I actually had the same problem but i fixed it using this exact method. so good luck.
put tape around the nails you'll soon break this terrid habbit
This is a very tough habit to beat. I knew someone who tried the bitter polish and they actually got used of the taste and didn't mind it. Some people can't tolerate it though. It is true, gelatin makes them grow faster and stronger. I had another friend who soaked her hands in clear gelantin, don't make it as the package says, use the hot and let it cool on it's own, when it's cool enough dip your fingers in it, she also drank flavored gelantin mix, again drinking it and making so it was not thick. She was worried about weight and used sugerless, lol. But, by gosh, in 2 weeks she had nails, not extreme long ones yet but, they were stubs anymore. She then got a polish with a strengthner from a local pharmacy, and after looking at her once stubs to actually beautiful nails, she wouldn't dare chew them. And, she now has wonderfull looking nails, and will not go get the fakes, as they can soften and damage your nails. This worked for her, she said the geletin also made her hair feel better. It was cheap and actually did work for her. Good luck. oh, yes, at first she always carried toothpicks to chew on to stay away from her nails. Only a few weeks. But, it's worth a try?

How do you take care of your natural nails when you get gel ones done?

I heard you can get fungus growing underneath your nails if you have fake ones, if this is true how can you prevent this from happening? How do you take care of your natural nails when you get gel ones done?
Mainly, fungus growing underneath false nails is caused by moisture. If any moisture gets trapped under the artificial nails, that is breeding ground for fungal growth. Problems can also be caused by implements that have not been disinfected properly. In either case, be sure you are going to a reputable salon, ask around and see what others have to say about the place. There is only so many ways you can prevent nail fungus from occurring, but at the same time...getting a nail fungus is not very common. Easiest way to prevent nail fungus under artificial nails is to just not get them done. How do you take care of your natural nails when you get gel ones done?
This is true.. But only if left on for too long. Your nails need time to breath. So when you take them off give them a few days to breath before you put more on. Don't keep regeling them. Ask them to take them off. Once they are off you will notice ridges and how thin your nails are.

I don't recommend them.. I had them for years and then realized that growing your own nails is a lot easier than most ladies think. Just keep nail polish on them and they will stay hard. Don't forget to file them when needed for maintenance and to avoid any nicks that might catch onto something and tear them. :) Have fun!
you can get infected if the salon doesn't do their job and keep the tools clean. I get them done all the time and have never gotten an infection

If you still insist, just paint them clear or do a french manicure (if you aren't good at doing it though, DONT TRY IT, ur nails should look as proffesional as possible)

Then, when you go to work tommorow, you can see wat color-if any- the other employees have on, and get it proffesionally done or something.
Keep them neat, clean, and well manicured. A french polish is always safe and looks professional. Another option is a pink/beige natural colour. This is one area where you shouldn't try and be creative with bright colours etc. Just keep them well presented.

Other than that, the only thing you can do really is pick it off. It will take a while, but it'll come off eventually.

There really aren't any other options. you can TRY rubbing alcohol, but it depends on what kind of nail polish you are wearing. It doesn't always work. How can I remove fingernail polish from my nails without using fingernail polish remover?

I know, it sounds crazy, I didn't believe it either. But, honestly, my grandmother is wise for a reason.

good luck! What is the best way to maintain healthy nails ?
take Vitamin E pills- its a easy pill to take every morning along with regular health pill for men or women every day you should be taking regardless- also you can get rubbing oils put them on your toenails specifically overtime you get out of the shower or bathe- rub some oil on them don't get crazy with the oil but rub it on to make it shine the oils should moisturize the nails its not a one day process healthy nails take time- if its a female use prenatal pills they are EXCELLENT for healthy nails-
I went to beauty school for hair and nails. Prenatal vits (avail over the coutner ) would help or u can take zinc and keratin supplements which is what nails are made of. file nails regularly (every 2-3 days) always file from one side to the center, don't See-Saw across nails as this causes the fibers to fray on the ends resulting in weakness.
Eat foods that are rich with calcium. And make sure that you cut them properly and when you need to, or your friend should. ;) Or you can do to the doctor and have him look at them and give you suggestions.
A good diet and geletin. Geletin is good for you nails.
your urrmmm friend should get a weekly pedicure, its only like $20-25.

I got my nails done a few months ago and I am tired of them. I just want them off, but I don't want to have to go somewhere and get them removed. I want to do it at home. What is an easy way to remove acrylic nails at home?
Get some non-acetone nail polish remover and put in a plastic bowl. Then soak your nails until they come off easy!

There might be some glue left on your nails, so just take a cotton ball or something and rub the glue off. What is an easy way to remove acrylic nails at home?
Well, what everyone else tells me is to normally soak them in some nail polish remover and then they loosen and they call off your nails or something like that. But what I normally do is take some pin, like a safety pin anything. And I start to go around my nail and I peel off the acrylic nail and it starts to pop off and you just pull it off. You don't feel a thing trust me it sounds weird and sounds like it would hurt but its your nail and your nail doesn't feel a thing. I can finish taking off all ten of my acrylics by doing that just in ten minutes.
the very best thing to do is to soak your fingers in acetone. you have to do this for about 30min and it loosens and starts to eat away at the nail. if you are going to use nail polish remover make sure it has acetone. and it may not work very well w/just nail polish remover. if you find acetone, make sure you put it in a glass bowl.
Soak them in nail polish remover.
I geuss you could find a super-strong nail polish remover, and just soak your nails in that. Unless you find special remover for acrylic nails.... But, otherwise i reccomend going to a salon to get them removed, 'cause it would be a pain if you messed up!
Ouch acrylic nails are very hard to get rid of. The way I do it is I put them in polish remover and let them soak for a couple of minutes this will soften them and make it easier to take off.

How often should I get my dog's nails cut?

They seem to grow fast. Most of them are black and it is hard to see where to cut--even the vet has trouble with them. Any suggestions? How often should I get my dog's nails cut?
Once a month as a general rule. If your dog walks alot,or is outside on concrete..that will naturally wear them down, so they won't need trimmed as often.

Also, if your dog is older, or lays around the house alot not getting worn down, they will need trimmed more often.

But, usually once a month is good. How often should I get my dog's nails cut?
Once you hear your dogs nails making noises on solid floor than thats the time you cut them. =)

once a month is probably good enough
It's up to your dog's activity level. We are always taking my dog on long walks so his nails get worn down by the pavement so we don't have to cut them ever.

If you aren't sure I would go to your local pet store and have them take a look.
Only as often as they need to be. When they get too long, cut them. I hate trimming nails myself, and have the vet or groomer do it whenever possible. Lucky for me, my boy chews his short, so they never need to be clipped, although I'm not sure why he does this....
I recommend once a month if you're having it done at the vet or groomer (groomer is usually better, they're cheaper AND they do far more nails than vets do, so they have more experience)

If you're doing it yourself, I suggest every week or two.
A dogs claws should not quite reach the floor when the dog is standing at rest. So clip them whenever they get longer than that. Grinding/sanding bits (like for Dremmel Tools) are used by some people on dark claws, the problem is that this can make the nail hot enough to burn the dog or fur between the toes can get caught and yanked out, so you have to be VERY CAREFUL using that method.

Lets see if I get reported THIS time!
It is difficult to see what you are doing with black nails. My dogs have black nails too.

Try cutting just a tiny bit every 2 weeks. If you just take off a tiny amount, you won't cut the quick and make them bleed. Also walks on concrete help sand them down. There is a tool called a Dremmel. It has a sanding piece especially for dogs nails. You can see it on line at Foster and Smith.
How old is she? I know my dog's groomer, when their puppies, does it every 2 weeks for about a month and a half, and that lowers the quick pretty well. Only little bits at a time of course, and take her out on concrete to wear them down. Otherwise, they can use the grinder on them.
    every month...

What is something I can do with my nails besides painting them and putting those fake gems on?

Is there some kind of way that I can get really cool looking designs on my nails besides putting stickers on? Like stencils for your nails, you know like when you paint flowers on a wall or something and you use a stencil thing. What is something I can do with my nails besides painting them and putting those fake gems on?
I saw these nail polish pens from sally hansen in Seventeen magazine, basically its nail polish that are pointed like a pen so you can draw cool designs

Nails stick out of a board and you make a picture by wrapping string around the nails. What's the name?

We did this activity in math class for extra credit and I just saw in on HGTV. I would love to make one, but can't remember the name. Also, I would love any information on where you can get patterns for the pictures online.Nails stick out of a board and you make a picture by wrapping string around the nails. What's the name?
Here are some easy instructions about how to do it:

It's called 'Pin and Thread', or Filography. Attaching a few links to sites that will help you with these projects.
I did it when I was younger and I called it nail art, I have a small one if you want it I will send it to you, for free as long as you live in the US.
We always called it string art. It was popular in the 70's.
It's called string art or line designs. My son did it in school this year also. I think it looks really cool. I surf the web and found a site that teaches you how to do it. here is the site www.teachersnetwork.org Hope this helps you if not surf the web using string art or line designs there are a lot of them.

Why does nails on a chalkboard make you squirm?

Why is it that when someone scratches their nails on a chalkboard that you squirm, flinch, hold your ears, etc? Heck, I have a friend that screams. How come some people don't mind it and can do it themselves, when I practically die listening to it?Why does nails on a chalkboard make you squirm?
    KarateKrazy,

It is psychological. With practice you can overcome this feeling or if you like you can make yourself react negatively to this feeling. Imagination is a very powerful thing. To overcome this problem you must first learn what senses are stimulated. Once you do that then you can teach yourself not to be offended.

By the way, like you name....Why does nails on a chalkboard make you squirm?
I think also because it's such an intense sound that we're not used to hearing often. If we were to hear it over %26amp; over during the day we'd probably grow a bit immune to it...a bit. I actually clinch my teeth together over %26amp; over when I hear that sound. I hate it haha.

I'm with you, it bothers me a lot. I think it does because of the pitch and intensity of the sound. Other than that, the texture of a chalkboard is weird and just thinking about scratching it makes me cringe.
I don't mind it and i think that people whose mind are not quite good enough to stand up to the slightest most miniscule mount of discomfort and blow it up to the level of torture within themselves are more likely to live with their parents or become retarded for the rest of their lives
    I don't
i have no clue i guess just the sound....... of it makes ppl act weird
    yes it bother me
    Doesn't.
    I LOVE that sound...!
doesn't bother me any at all
It's that high-pitched squeaking sound that irritates a lot of people, me included. Other people either pay no attention to it or can't hear it!
the sound is creepy and you think that the person's nails are gonna bend back and break off or something like that when they're scratching the chalkboard. i usually scream and beg for the person to stop. one time in 3rd grade i cried becuz it scared the heck out of me.

I have picked and bitten my nails for most of my life.

What does this mean? And how can I stop?

what worked for me was getting a manicure and seeing how good they looked %26amp; then i wanted them to always look that good so i pretty much stopped..How can I stop picking and biting my nails?
Try eating lollipop instead of nails. Find foods which are a lot tastier.

Behavioral treatments are based in discouraging the habit and replace it with a more constructive habit. The most common treatment, as it is cheap and widely available, is a special clear nail polish that has to be applied to the nails. It releases a bitter flavor on contact with the mouth which discourages the habit. There are also mouthpieces that prevent biting

Some patients have found professional behavioral therapy to be beneficial on its own or as a complement to medication when simpler measure are not effective. The first part of nail biting therapy consists of Habit Reversal Training (HRT), a four part process that seeks to ';unlearn'; the habit of nail biting and possibly replace it with a more constructive habit. In addition to HRT, stimulus control therapy is used to both identify and then eliminate the stimulus that frequently triggers biting urges
Generally it is as a result of environment I think if you check you'll find as a child someone in your family maybe an older roll model had the habit and you have picked up on it. Other than that there are no underlying causes, so superficial may be all your going to get to cure it unfortunately.Advice on how to break the habit may include superficial solutions like soap under the nails. False nails to protect from the desire and an acceptance by you that they look horrible and women are right in looking at Mens finger ends and saying I would dread the thought of those horrible things inside me. Sounds to me like you actually want someone to say your a headcase well if that's what you want then OK your a headcase
The manicure idea is a good one.

Something I did was stop one nail at a time, so that one grew and looked good and it gave me the incentive to continue.

Another thing was to get some micropore (surgical tape a bit like thin plaster, from Boots) and just wrapped a bit round my finger, I picked on this instead

I still nibble them and pick them when I am upset, so don't expect it to go away completely
stop trying to blame bad habits on psychological issues... i doubt that issues in your past forces one to bite and pick ones nails. just realise that it is a bad habit, think about how dirty your hands are (not your fault thought) because everything you touch has been touched by other people and who knows what they have touched and not washed their hands...
Paint the nails with Bittrex - ask your pharmacist. Nail-biting and thumb sucking is a residual reaction to cessation of breast or bottle-feeding and is also a form of self-affirmation.
biting you nails = nervous. Just relax, because nervous will make everything worst.

Prenatal vitamins if you can get your hands on them. (They're only sold by prescription, but you could ask your OB/GYN for them.) They also make your hair grow like there's no tomorrow. I took them during my pregnancies, and didn't notice any difference, but then they were intended for something else at that point. I went through a really nasty divorce, and was stressed out, (My hair was falling out in clumps from it!) told my OB/GYN about it, and he's been prescribing them for me ever since. They really do work, but you also have to eat a diet high in calcium, and eating jello helps as well.
I agree with the sally hensen stuff. Another thing, taking vitamin E, C or A supplements, or instead eating foods high with these vitamins. I used to have weak brittle nails that chipped, but after taking supplements my nails were unbreakable. I havent been taking them anymore, so my nails are chipping again

How often do you cut your dog's nails?

How often do you cut your dog's nails? And what type of clippers should I use? We want to go to Petsmart but if we can find similar products somewhere else, that would be great. We just got a 10 month old boxer, almost 65lbs.How often do you cut your dog's nails?
It depends on the dog and it's activities. You should be able to look at the nails and tell whether or not they need trimming. Dogs that walk on cement often may never, or rarely require trimming. If the dog has dewclaws, those will probably need more regular trimming because they don't touch the ground.

Doggy nail clippers are most often sold at any grocery or drug store, if you don't want to go to PetSmart. How often do you cut your dog's nails?
I have a boxer too, usually once every 2-3 weeks is good enough. The more often you do it the easier it gets on the dog. He/she gets used to it and the quick actually retreats a little bit each time. Be careful not to cut too short as you will cut the quick and cause a little bleeding(painful for the dog). The bleeding will stop in a few minutes or even better they sell a powder to absorb the blood and stop the bleeding. Clear nails are easier cut, you can see the quick, so be extra careful on the dark nails.
I returned every clipper I got from Petsmart, normally a great store, but they had an awful selection. I ended up getting mine from ebay that is a professional style clipper for cheaper (including s/h) than the ones I got in store. Grinders are nice, but not in my budget. Look for high quality stainless steel, and I'm really not a fan of guillotine style. Hope this helps.
I don't use clippers, there is to much of a risk to cut the quick of the nail.

I use a nail drimmel, you can buy them at drugstores or walmart type places. I think they mightsell them especially for dogs at Petsmart.

I cut my Pug's nails about every 2 weeks. Her nails grow at rapid speed though. I'd cut them whenever they need it.
I cut and file my dog's nails at least once a week..

I just use regular nail clippers.. and I have a cheapie electric nail file that I got at walmart around christmas time for $10.. I file his nails because he's hairless and scratches the crap out of his skin when he itches otherwise.
I try to do it weekly. Use the clippers that are most comfortable for you. Some people do better with the pliers-type, some prefer the guillotine.

FWIW, I've found that it's easier to take small slices off with the guillotine ones.
I clip them every week, or when I can hear them scraping the ground, with these special guillotine clippers from the petshop (before I just used my step dads nail clippers) and I also file them when I can. He really enjoys it! Quiet as a mouse.
I trim my dogs nails once a week.

I own a breed that's nails grow like crazy!

I use a dremmel tool device, it is a lot better for the nails.
I trim every 4 weeks with a regular dog nail clipper. I put on flea stuff at the same time. When I have to do both, I'm much less likely to forget either.

    Good luck!

How do I stop myself from biting my nails?

I bite my nails constantly. I never think about biting my nails, and it isn't because I get nervous... I just involuntarily bring my hand to my mouth and bite my nails. I don't bite my nails until they bleed, though. Is there any way to stop myself from biting my nails? Thanks in advance. How do I stop myself from biting my nails?
I used to have the same problem. I tried everything- The lemon juice, The gross tasting nail polish, Even fake nails- Nothing worked.

Untill one day I read an article- And It changed my life. It really works !

Okay- Get yourself a nail file. One that is small enough to carry everywhere with you. Every time you get the urge to bite your nails or find you hand heading toward your mouth- Break out that file and start filing !

Usually after just a few seconds of filing them the urge goes away. It get easier as time goes by. Before you know it your nails grow out and they look neat because you file them every day =]

Good luck !!How do I stop myself from biting my nails?
    Heyy Amber! :))

I used to have a problem with that..I still do it but my mom would buy me this clear nail polish to put on...and when you go to bite your nails...you taste this NASTY taste of the polish and it stays on your nails for a while! It really helped for a while...until I stopped putting it on...and went right to biting my nails. I'm wearing back finger nail polish now at the moment and it looks so pretty I don't even want to mess it up to bite my nails. Haha. So I resist it. Just do what suits you to breaking the habit.

    Good luck ''Vera''!

    hehe ;)
Breaking a bad habit is never going to be easy.

What I would recommend is to soak your nails in lemon juice, nail polish remover, or something that else that tastes bad.

Now wipe your nails so that they're dry (but do not scrub).

Every time you bite your nails, you will then have the taste of something horrible in your mouth. Your subconscious will learn from this and HOPEFULLY your habit will be broken in no time.

I know this may not sound appealing, but no pain no gain!

    Best of luck!
I'm the same.....my mum taught me a lil trick which seems to be working though. Continue to bite all your nails except for say your 2 pinky fingers.....once they have grown bite all except your pinky's and your index fingers etc. Once you've got a few really nice and healthy looking nails it'll be soooo much easier to stop biting the rest - It's working for me =)
I had this problem for years. My Grandma even tried that stuff that you put on your nails that taste horrible...that didn't even work. I started taking vitamins and my nails started coming in faster so I started painting them. They looked so nice that I didn't wanna bite them and eventually I stopped over time. My suggestion is paint your nails and take vitamins hun!
Well, do you think you'd notice that they felt different and notice you were biting them if they were painted?

If not, they make stuff for kids to put on their thumbs that tastes really bad, you could put that on your nails.
Put a cream or lotion on that you do not like.

Example: even lemon juice, if you don;t like it, and it'll make you stop cause you do not like the taste of it.
Are you willing to spend a few bucks? If so...

How old before you can clip a cats nails?

My new kitten is about maybe 2 months old and is eating hard food already so is she old enough to clip her nails? How old before you can clip a cats nails?
Yep Yep! You can clip a cat's nails at any age, but they really probably don't need a trim for awhile. 2 months old is fine, though. That's when my little guy had his first nail clipping!

You get a gold star for not de-clawing!

    How to do it:

Get her used to you holding and pushing on her paws, I do this a lot with my cats. If I'm just sitting there with them, I'll play with their little paws, pushing on each paw pad, extending the claw, rubbing in between their toes. They purr, like it's a foot massage or something, haha.

Then, when it comes time to clip their nails, they already know that it's a good thing, and they hold still for me. Like, some cats at the shelter I worked at needed two people, a blanket, a flashlight, a backup pair of clippers, and a towel just to attempt it! But my two guys just flop down and fall asleep, haha.

You should be very very careful though, you don't need to cut too much. Just where the claw starts to bend. You can see a little pink part inside the claw, sometimes you might have to use a flashlight, but that's the part that you want to stay away from. That's the blood vessel, called the 'quick'.

Make sure you're in a well-lit area, so you can see what you're doing. Sit indian-style, and put the cat in your lap, facing away from you, with her back against your chest, so you're both looking forward. You can wrap her up with a favorite blanket so she feels safe. If she wiggles a little and wants to get out, just calm her in a soothing voice, and hold her and pet her. Always be saying 'good girl!' soothingly when she sits still and behaves. If she meows like mad and starts to wriggle really hard, then let her go, let her know that it's okay, it's no big deal, she's not going to be forced to do it. But then pick her back up, and start again.

If you already know how to do it, then, well, ignore the whole thing I just typed, haha. Anyways, to answer your question, yes, that's the perfect age to start, so she gets used to it, and won't fight you as much later on in life. It'll just be no big deal. =)

Best of luck! How old before you can clip a cats nails?
Start getting her used to being touched on her paws. When she's sleepy hold her in your lap and pet her gently and work your way down to her paws. Have the clippers near her (with in a foot or two) so that she gets used to them being around. Be patient. It may take a couple weeks. When she seems like she's getting used to this then you can trim her nails. (With dogs being more food motivated it's easier to train them because you can give them treats for allowing their paws to be touched, and then for each nail you trim.) Now is the perfect time for you to get her used to being handled and groomed. I found that with adult cats it it stresses them out a lot more. It takes them a lot longer to get used to it. It ends up being a two person job when you can't get a cat used to being handled.

Best of luck, and remember be patient.

(And if you want to get a little more involved read TTouch books by Linda Tellington-Jones)

P.S. Also, don't forget (since you plan on trimming them) to make sure every couple weeks or so that the outer sheaths are coming out of the toes properly. If they don't it can cause infection. I never had this problem with my own cats (but I trimmed and checked their toes every other week,) but have heard of it happening to other peoples cats.
Yes you can clip her nails. it will stop her climbing your curtains and screens on windows. Remember the squirt bottle and hiss when you squirt, before long when you hiss she will know she is in trouble.

I start clipping my kittens nails at about 5 weeks of age. They start to play then and accidentally cause eye ulcers in each others eyes. Just the very tips in small kittens. As they get older it is easier. You can cut to where the curve starts. I use human nail clippers only where we use them horizontally, turn it up and you will find it really easy. Probably every three to four weeks you will have to do it again. Again hiss if she wriggles and hold her tight like a baby. When she is relaxed start again. It is something that is a lifetime issue so you need her co-operation even when she is older. Hissing works. That is what their mum does and they know to behave. I have a whole household of cats and they all have their claws trimmed regularly without a scratch or bite.

    good luck
She probably doesn't *need* it doing. But if you are very gentle about it and couple it with lots of fuss and treats it might not be a bad idea just to nip the very ends off at this early age, to get her used to the idea. It's something that is likely to have to happen later in her life, so the earlier she first encounters it probably the better, as long as it isn't made into a stressful operation for her. Consider it a training exercise, but if she gets at all stressed stop - you don't need to do them all at once.
should be fine. it is just like cutting a baby's nails (although in equivalent age the cat is more like a 2 year old) the earlier you start the easier it is to teach them to tolerate the process which will make it easier for you to do in the future.
When I hand raised kittens i started trimming them VERY young. They were getting claws stuck in my skin. so they were about 4 days old when I very carefully did them. Keep in mind I had years experience doing my other kittens and adults.

I've been getting acrylics for five years now and have had no problems with them. I've never gotten pre-made white tips, only painted tips so I'm not sure how they work those. Though I do put this awesome nail treatment stuff on my cuticles and under the nail itself to keep everything healthy and strong. It's called Sally Hansen Nail Nutrition and it comes in a green bottle like nail polish, I put it on twice a day.

How do I remove glue left from fake nails?

I had press on nails the last couple days and I just took them off. The glue is still stuck on! Even when I use nail polish remover, it won't come off. Will it eventually come off? What should I do?How do I remove glue left from fake nails?
The Nail Polish Remover must have accetone in it. They have special formulas for fake nails at drugstore. I like the Onyx brand.

If you got them done at the salon, you may be refering to the white lines across your nails. That's from the electric nail file thing. You can't get that off, it just has to grow out. Drink lot's of milk and they should grow out in about 3-4 weeks. How do I remove glue left from fake nails?

Push your fingernails through the lemon pulp, the lemon juice has natural whitening agents...Keep them in for 10-15 mins..Try it out for a week...See if it works..If it doesn't, try something else,,lol..Is there a way to make naturally yellowish nails brighter?
Her are some ways for whiter nails:

~ Dip your nails into a lemon half or soak nails in lemon juice.

~ Soak a cotton ball in white vinegar and rub it into nails or soak nails in white vinegar.

~ Scrub nails with a whitening toothpaste and a toothbrush.

~ Rub nails with a cotton ball soaked in whitening mouthwash or soak nails in the mouthwash.

~ Make a scrub out of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide and scrub it on nails.

~ Fill a bowl with warm water with one or two denture tablets. Soak nails in the water, and tablets will whiten your nails.

~ DRINK 3 CUPS OF MILK EVERYDAY!!!! This is so important and will show a difference in your nails ( stronger and whiter) in the long run.

~ Always scrub your nails with some soap and a nail brush. No matter if your nails are white or not, always keep nails clean.

~ To prevent yellow nails, apply a clear nail polish on nails before putting on your colored nail polish. The clear polish acts as a base coat, which helps prevent the color pigment and chemicals in colored nail polish to stain, yellow or harm your natural nails. Then, I suggest you apply a clear top coat over your colored coat to prevent chipping. Professionals use a base coat, 1-2 colored coats, and a top coat too when they manicure people's nails.

    Good luck!
    just paint them

What is the difference between gel and acrylic nails?

I've always just gotten gel. Are there any pro's and con's?What is the difference between gel and acrylic nails?
Acrylics are powder and liquid mixed together and applied onto the nail. They air dry very quickly.

Pros: They are harder than gels, so if you want super long nails, they would probably be the best choice to go with. They're also quicker to have done than gels, and can be removed by soaking them in acetone.

Cons: They're heavier, they yellow, shine disappears quickly, and when your nails grow out, the gaps really stand out.

Gels come in a pot, filled with a honey like substance. They use a flat brush to apply a coat onto your nail, and then harden it under a UV light.

Pros: They're lighter, stays shiny, no yellowing, gaps don't show as much (assuming that you have french or clear). They're also not as thick so they look more natural.

Cons: The traditional (most common) gels can't be removed in acetone, so you have to get them filed off which takes a long time and it can easily damage your nails if removed improperly.

Neither system is ';better';. It just really depends on what the person's needs are. What is the difference between gel and acrylic nails?
Good choice! Gels are much better than acrylics! Gels have been around for about 5 years, so a lot of older techs haven't been educated on this product! Gels are hypo-allergenic, and they also keep a permanent shine unlike acrylics. The only down side to gels are that you have to get them removed professionally while acrylics can be removed at home. I strongly advise not to pick at any products on your nails as permanent damage can be done to your real nails. I have had gel nails for almost a year now, and I love them! it helps that I'm a nail tech, and have all the supplies at home :)
Acyclic nails are tougher in my opinion but they definitely damage your nails WAY more...I got them once and when i took them off i had ridges in ewww it was so weird..
Sometimes there are blindingly obvious answers to issues like this nevertheless maybe not this time.
I don't even know what gel nails are but I get acrylic one's and I love them!

What is the fastest way to make your nails grow?

My nails have always been short, and i just want to grow them out this summerWhat is the fastest way to make your nails grow?
I would not suggest acrylics! while they are beautiful, they weaken the nail and it gets costly to keep up. (been there, done that, now my nails are in a weakened state)

Two simple things that really work fast! Eat plenty of good protein ( example, eggs, spinach) and start tapping your fingers on the table, steering wheel or where ever you are! it creates stimulation, blood flow to the nail bed and encourages growth. The protein keeps them strong! What is the fastest way to make your nails grow?
they have this clear nail polish with green tea in it. It's suppose to make your nails grow long in up to 5 days. You can get it at any drug store like wal mart.

    welll get acrillics

or dont trim them or bite them and file them to be te shape u want
