How can you get soot out of hands and nails?

My boss had a house fire last week and it completely destroyed her daughter's room and left the rest of the house completely covered in soot and ash. She has been struggling all week to clean the house and now she has soot and ash on her hands and nails. She is having a hard time cleaning her hands and I was just wondering if anyone knows any products or at-home-remedies that may be helpful to her. Thanks in advance!!How can you get soot out of hands and nails?
I recently had a house fire. The lava soap doesn't work worth a crap. I've found you need to use warm soapy water and peroxide with a nail brush. It takes a while and may make your hands itch but it works. How can you get soot out of hands and nails?

Try ';Pumice'; soap. This works well for ground in dirt.
Lava soap. There is also a powder you can sprinkle on your hands. Either works fine. Sorry, I don't remember the name of the powder.
i heard somewhere about trying coca-cola..takes out a lot of stuff
Try a basic manicure w/ antibacterial soap w/ peroxide and scrub with a nail brush or toothbrush. If that don't work try the hand cleaning stuff that the auto mechanic uses.
tyr vinigar and water it might help then have her wash her hands with soap and water after that.tell her if she wants put some vinigar in a cup and soak her nails in it for a little bit then go wash her hands it should come off.
