What is the best way to keep you nails healty and growing?

My nails break very easly and they won't grow that long, I want long natural nails not fake ones. Can anyone help. What is the best way to keep you nails healty and growing?
As a professional in this field, I would have to say get yourself regular manicures, and follow through with the home maintenance that your manicurist recommends for you.

This will probably include some nail/cuticle oil;Solar Oil

(by Creative Nail Design), a.h.a. cuticle eraser (Creative Nail Design), and maybe some sort of protein nail strengthener( SPA Ritual Protein Boost) and maybe a nice hand cream (Creative Nail Design's Solar Butter)

These are all the products my clients use for home maintenance, they come for their appointments about once a week or every other week just to give you an idea.

With regular manicures and some home maintenance you should see some improvement in your nails, also remember maybe your nails are not meant to be long, a short flexible nail is a healthy nail. Many people are under the impression that fingernails have to be ';hard'; to be healthy, well that is not correct.

Soft and flexible is the proper nail ';toughness';, this is so it endures the everyday rigors and traumas you put them through without breaking.

Just to get this out there...

Artificial nails are not the problem,,,It's the untrained, uninformed, lazy nail technician that is damaging to your nails.

Hope this helps! What is the best way to keep you nails healty and growing?
my nails grow very quickly and I kep them manicured and nice. Sometimes people think I wear fake nails in which i don't because that harms ur nails. The only thing i do is to use clear nail polish and take care of them.
make sure u eat enough protein and iron. if u want to make them longer soak them in water for a couple minutes every day and be careful not to break them while they're wet. don't use nail polish very often bcuz the chemicals in polish and polish remover are really bad for ur nails.
go to the baby aisle in the store, by the diaper rash ointments, there's vitamin a %26amp; d ointment that is basically vitamin a, vitamin d, lanolin, white petrolatum, and a couple other things. it's in a white tube with brown and gold lettering. i put a very small amount on my fingertips, nails, cuticles, etc a few times a day. works great and it's only like $4 for a tube that lasts for months and months.
You must take protein rich diet,b/c in nails there is present a protein fiber alled keratin....so it is very essential to have a diet which is rich in proteins.....for example take eggs, milk %26amp; butter regularly....remember! don't like big nails b/c they have very weak roots...
look i'm sure and i red that.. make for them a shower of olive oil twice weekly i try it and it's perfect way it makes healthy and shiny nails. and also you can make a shower of lemon daily.

Try taking pre-natal vitamins. Do not buy them at a drug store, or grocery store. Go to a natural herbs store and buy them there, their a little bit more expensive, but it's worth it to make your nails look healthy and growing. It also keeps your hair really healthy too. I take pre-natal vitamins and i'm not even pregnant. Belive me it works if yu use the natural herb pre-natal vitamins. Fish oil works too!!!
Take your vitamins and drink lots of water. Lay off the cokes, and eat right.
Well you could eat a lot of calcim or in stores they sell garlic nail polish and it work vary good.
